After previous additions and layers of alterations were removed from this stately home, work consisted of reconfiguring the interior layout to improve circulation and adjacencies for modern living.
Foundation and structural framing were reinforced, electrical and mechanical systems were upgraded for energy efficiency, bathrooms were added, and building skin fortified against pesky rodents. A conservatory inspired kicthen and breakfast room addition, with shuttered porch above, open the rear of the house towards a sprawling lawn and pool terrace.
Interiors were redesigned utilizing much of the owner’s meaningful possessions. Wood paneling was restored and a water-damaged mural in the formal living room was brought back to life by artist Meagan Haslam.

A conservatory-inspired kitchen had a contemporary design with clean-lined elements such as cabinetry and an island.The kitchen also features black and white patterned flooring. The modern pendant lighting and floor-to-ceiling glass windows gave the room a conservatory feel.The stairs with a dark and white color scheme. An orbital lighting system and huge windows provide ample light.A light-filled bedroom with a floating bed, two timber side tables, and lamps. The mural on both sides of the bed coordinates with the fixtures in the room and mirror doors of the walk-in closet, making the room appear larger.Another bedroom has a floral patterned wall that continues to the ceiling, with candle-like lighting fixtures. Instead of tables, open shelving is used on both sides of the bed. The large windows provide an outside view, and block-out curtains can be used for privacy.
The bathroom has the same flowery pattern on the walls and ceiling as the bedroom.The shuttered porch above opens up the back of the house to a large lawn and pool terrace.The house’s rear facade highlights the sprawling lawn and pool deck.
