The features of a craftsman style bedroom can vary widely, with the main staple holding decorating ideas together being the attention to handcrafted, high-quality woods. As with any design, though, there are a few fundamental principles behind its execution.
The Colors that Comprise Craftsman
The two most common palettes found in craftsman designs consist of neutrals and earthy tones. While it isn’t out of the question to select something more vibrant, these two palettes blend marvelously with unpainted woodwork.
In fact, neutral colors were used in 82.39% of 332,061% of analyzed bedrooms. White, gray, beige and brown can help tie any color scheme together.
Don’t Forget the Walls
Walls can be painted or left natural in this design. It isn’t uncommon to see a stone or bare wood in a modern craftsman bedroom, nor is it uncommon to see everything from beige to darker pink paint.
After analyzing 173,576 bedrooms, beige and white were the most popular choices appearing 26.64% and 27.19% of the time respectively.
Picking Out a Floor
Given the appreciation for quality woodwork, it is rare to find a craftsman style room with anything other than hardwood flooring. Dark, medium or light hues can all be used. Out of 165,175 bedrooms, hardwood floors appeared in 50.27% of them.
Fireplaces, Yes or No?
Given the time era, this style became known in a fireplace is almost always a given in a craftsman home. However, 81.28% of the 73,325 bedrooms we analyzed did not include a fireplace. Those that did feature standard fireplaces in 13.62% of homes and corner pieces in 1.76%.
