Do you have a family member that needs a place to stay? Do you have a college student that wants to stay near home, but have their own space? Do you have a loved one that needs home health care, but still needs a private space? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then shed plans for tiny home living may be ideal for you. Here are a few of the shed plan ideas that upgrade a simple shed to the ideal tiny home living space.

Barn Style Shed Plans

Barn style shed plans are the most popular options for tiny home style living. The barn style offers several options that give you an impression of a larger living space. One way of doing this is by offering a porch as part of the barn style shed plan. The barn style also offers a sleeping loft or storage loft area to free up even more space. The finished product looks like a mini barn house with a simple covered porch suitable for rocking chairs and relaxation. This plan can also be adapted to have a fully functional bathroom as well as a kitchen area. These styles are ideal for a single person, as a guest house, or as an alternative to college dorm living.

Gable Shed Plans

Gable shed plans use a gable style roofing instead of the traditional flat barn or rounded barn loft style. The gable shed plans give more of an actual guest home impression. The main difference between the gable shed plan over a barn style is the loft area. In a gable shed plan, the loft is usually used for storage and for wires, insulation, plumbing, and as a smaller version of the larger attic it mimics. The sleeping area is incorporated into the basic floor plan. Floor plans vary for this type of shed plan. They can range from a studio apartment style build to having an extension added for a closed-off private bedroom, bathroom, and the living space.

Saltbox Shed Plans

Saltbox shed plans are ideal as an overnight sleeping area or storage area for guests. These shed plans offer the ability to have a one room environment with possibly a small bathroom or kitchen area. These shed plans are ideal for guests that will be showering, eating, and spending most of their day with you and only using the shed to sleep. The saltbox shed plans are also ideal if you plan on converting back to a traditional shed later as they are ideal for storing outdoor tools and many already have ramps as part of their plan.

Lean To Shed Plan

Lean to shed plans may seem like a unique option for many people. The shed has a tall flat back wall with a sloping roof. They are much smaller than other shed plans and suitable for storage, small home offices, or even a play area for children. Some families also have these lean to sheds built to house appliances such as a washer, dryer, or chest freezer. If you need storage or additional storage added to an existing shed, this plan be ideal for you.
