The industrial design got its start in loft apartments but has since swept those owning homes and commercial spaces off their feet with style unlike any other. This method focuses on form and function, as well as exposing bare elements such as ceiling beams, pipes, or ductwork.
After analyzing 582,301 bedrooms, we found that only 0.77% featured this industrial style. This is mainly due to the fact that modern homes come pre-built, whereas gentrified areas with warehouses and factories have been converted into urban living spaces.
Nonetheless, this extensive collection of industrial style bedrooms showcases the exposure and dramatic appeal that has drawn many to this realm of design.
Industrial Bedroom Data
While the main feature of the industrial design is exposure of brick walls, ceiling beams, and pipes, there’s more than meets the eye than just the bare workings.
A Natural Palette
Generally speaking, the colors favored in industrial primary bedroom ideas are often warm neutrals. This counters the coolness created by things like metal pipes and ducts. Shades of gray and off whites are the most common.
Out of 332,061 bedrooms, 13.47% focused on gray while 19.93% were predominantly white. Industrial tends to leave walls stripped down to their raw materials, favoring bricks and stone over paint.
What About Wall Colors?
While many industrial living spaces feature worn brick, those who choose to paint them usually stick with the gray or off-white color scheme. After analyzing 173,576 bedrooms, 27.29% of them featured white while 19.45% used gray.
Unique Flooring
Industrial styles mainly feature polished concrete floors. However, timber and stone can also be used to give the same raw feeling these spaces are known for. In 165,175 analyzed bedrooms, 50.27% utilized hardwood floors in various shades.
Concrete is easily favored over stone or timber, which was not found in any of the homes analyzed. Which makes sense since many urban spaces feature concrete underneath their tile or laminate. However, hardwoods can also help to accentuate an industrial design.
Choosing a Floor Color
We analyzed 25,192 bedrooms to see which floor colors appeared the most often. Brown was used the most often at 39.85%, while beige was used the second most often appearing 34.13% of the time.
For industrial bedrooms that do not feature concrete or hardwood, choosing a neutral like gray or beige helps to bring out the other features in the room.
