Welcome to our gallery featuring the “Luxury Cottage” project by ARS-IDEA Interior and Architectural Design.
Located in Skhidnytsia, Ukraine, this mountain cottage was designed for comfort and relaxation.
The striking looks serve to reinforce this sense of homey feeling with rich natural wood elements throughout.
Designed by Arsen Kostyshyn, Catherine Lutsyuk, with architect Ole Tselyuh, the home was completed in 2015 and stands as a monument to the very idea of cottage style luxury.
While the notion of a mountain cottage is culturally linked to feelings of comfort and tenderness, this home seeks to emphasize the luxuriousness inherent in its intricate scale.
The interior is flush with bright colors and gold decorative patches, making for a high contrast, highly engaging visual presence. Refined lines, decorative elements, and a careful lighting scheme meet a geometrically focused layout for a surprising combination of shapes and textures.
The ground floor wraps around an open concept space combining the kitchen, living room, and dining area. This space features a restrained color palette that’s shot through with high contrast splashes and elegant furniture.
The bedroom area, on the second floor, features two bedrooms with accompanying spacious bathrooms, each flush with natural marble. The primary bedroom features a transition from recreation zone to wardrobe that highlights the spatial qualities of the space.
The designer states, “This result shows that with the right combination of color and texture, furniture design and its style can be quite different,” indicating the striking pieces that are found in both the social and private spheres of the home.
The striking detail and sense of welcoming warmth are the largest hallmarks of this beautiful mountain cottage.
The living room and dining area are part of the same broad open space layout, bracketed by bold elements like white wainscoting and a black accent wall. The room is wrapped from floor to ceiling in rich natural wood.
The living room is stuffed with richly detailed furniture, like this timeless contemporary sofa and pair of button-tufted armchairs. The rich wainscoting behind serves as a divider between this space and the raised kitchen area.
The dining room boasts a mixture of sleek lines and ornate furniture, with a monolithic black table at center, flanked by Victorian styled dining chairs. A black China hutch adds to the high contrast look.
Moving up to the kitchen space, we see this unique island design with a built-in wine rack and marble countertops. A pair of elegant sconces glow over the light hardwood flooring.
The kitchen stands out with a highly textural look, courtesy of dark cabinetry with gold highlights, a checkered floor tile design, and a black ceiling crossed with natural wood exposed beams.
The rich marble countertops and white subway tile backsplash add an additional element of textural richness. This space is one of the more vibrant corners of the home, an explosion of detail.
At the top of the stairs, we see how the rich natural wood exposed beams cross the entire home, unifying the layout and style.
The primary bedroom features a large marble fireplace and relaxing area, all lit via chandelier and wall sconces. The detailed furniture glows before the large windows and rich wood accents.
One of the two bathrooms, awash in natural marble. The sleek walk-in shower and vessel sink vanity make for an elegant but modern look.
The second bedroom sports a warmer palette, with rich wood wall paneling and lighter furniture. Her we see the cozy layout with private bathroom access.
This second bathroom sports a nearly identical look, wrapped in white marble over a checkered floor design. Built-in shelving and a floating vanity make the cozy space feel expansive.
