Welcome out our gallery featuring the elegant Sagaponack Cottage by Axis Mundi Design.
The exterior of this cottage is deceptive, in that the interior is modern and sleek, rather than having the traditional rugged cottage design.
The interior follows a mostly white and black color scheme, with splashes of color here and there to accent the spaces.
This simple color scheme provides an excellent backdrop for the lush green nature just outside. It is a refreshing variation from the traditional floppy couch and wicker furniture design that is prevalent in most small cottages like this one.
While the main living areas of this cottage are modern and elegant, the bedroom features a design that is a little more comforting. Rich wood paneling and deep blue colors are featured for an atmosphere that is more conducive to sleep.
The kitchen area is spacious and features a large working area, as well as plenty of countertop space for dining. The dining table also seats eight comfortably, in the event that you would need to entertain guests.
Industrial finishes around the interior of the cottage create a tension between the indoors and outdoors, since each style is so different. Features like theย steel of the fireplace surround and anodized aluminum in the kitchen are contributors.
While it is small, the bathroom features modern style utilities, making up for the lack of the space with style. The bathroom wall ends just short of the ceiling, which allows for a sense of openness.
The back exterior of the cottage features a large deck with enough space for grilling, lounging, and an outdoor dining table. The deck itself is made of natural wood and has steel wire railings.
Take a look through these images of the Sagaponack Cottage, and let its stylish modern and rugged cottage combinationย inspire your next renovation!

As you enter the Sagaponack Cottage, you’ll turn to the right andย immediately be greeted by this vibrant blue rug and naturally lit hallway. The white walls help the light bounce around, and the shelving and drawer space to the left provide plenty of area for storage, as well as providing a space for decoration.
Moving forward pastย the hallway, you will turn to the right and find the kitchen. This modern and sleek space features a long rectangular island, with a matching style of cabinetryย against the wall and around the stove. A small section of cabinetry above the stove is stark white, contrasting the rest of the kitchen.
The kitchen shares a space with both the dining area and the living room. This largeย open plan allows for interaction between those in the living room, the dining room, and the kitchen. The many windows in this space allow natural light to flood into the home, and the sleek surfaces help to reflect light and keeps the space bright and lively.
The dining area in this home features elegant candle holders that are transparent, as not to cut off any interaction between those sitting across the table from each other. The table itself is long and sleek, featuring matching chairs that are modern in style. A unique chandelier hangs directly above this space, and vibrant artworks helps to contrast the colors in the space.
This angle from behind the dining table shows how symmetrical this house really is. From the placement of each chair to the location of each window, this house has been designed to keep every space connected, while maintaining a constant symmetrical appeal. The white and black theme is prevalent in this home, only a few decorations and paintings hanging on the wall stray from this color scheme.
The living room is contained in its space by a large plush area rug, with light grey and blue colors to compliment the black couch and white marble coffee tables. In this case, the pink flowers are enough decoration to accent the room elegantly, since the rest of the house has a mostly white and black color scheme.
This angle gives us a full view of the living room, in which you will notice the television above the fireplace,ย two lounging chairs, and the large couch facing the fireplace. There are windows on each side of the TV and fireplace, as well as a large glass sliding door leading to an outdoor deck.
In the bedroom of this house, the light hardwood floor remains prevalent.ย The walls have a rich glossed wood paneling that compliments the hardwood floors and the dark blue furnishings in this room. Weย can recognize a modern style from the unique bedside shelf, as well as fromย the adjustableย lamp mounted to the wall.
This angle of the bedroom reveals the full bed, and weย will see that the other side of the bed has a matching bedside shelf and mounted adjustable lamp, once again an example of the designer appreciating the aesthetic appeal of symmetry. The vibrant blue artwork on the wall contrasts the subtle tones in the rest of the room well.
In the bathroom of this home, weย can see the same hardwood floor, and a similar stained wood paneling across the drawers and cabinetry below the sinks. The countertop features a deep texture, matched by the interior of the shower. The wall behind the sink is covered in small white tiles, and weย notice how the wall opens up to keep an air flow open from the bathroom to the bedroom.
This exterior view of the home reveals that while it is small, the backyard of this property is open and spacious enough to accommodate a reasonable number of guests. There is a large square stone path leading from the deck, and around the perimeter of the yard, this helps to create a division between the flower beds and the actual yard.
