Welcome to our gallery featuring the handsomely appointed Coloma Cottage by Karen Garlanger Designs.
This rich home interior design features many of the hallmarks of cottage style design, with a unique twist.
The entire look of the home is one that’s as contemporary and sleek as it is nostalgic.
Sprawling beneath a high vaulted ceiling, the open plan layout of this home packs an abundance of features, detail, and stylish design into a relatively compact space.
The style is made cohesive through complementary use of rich natural wood in a number of effective places, from the flooring to the doors and, most notably, the ceiling.
That high vaulted ceiling is a striking expanse of natural hardwood paneling, with a slotted, high texture look that’s both attention grabbing and utterly of-a-piece with the remainder of the home.
The white walls are broken up with natural wood window and door frames, rich darker wood cabinetry, and expansive views, courtesy of those broad windows.
The entire home centers on the large open area comprising the kitchen, dining, and living room spaces. This room itself centers on a massive stone fireplace, flanked by a pair of windows for maximum impact.
The entire space is lit by subtly recessed lighting in the ceiling, making way for clear lines of sight and crisp sense of space.
The well appointed kitchen is complemented by a breakfast nook style dining corner, with a bench seat running below another large set of windows.
The living room itself is filledย with traditional but highly detailed furniture selections.

At the center of this broad open space, we see the stone fireplace dominating the visual scale of the room, with abundant natural light keeping everything highlighted.
Turned to the side, we see the kitchen and the hallway leading toward bedrooms. At center is the breakfast nook space, with colorful chairs and throw pillows adding a bit of variety to the palette.
The Dining table is another example of rich natural wood in this home design, helping foster a sense of cohesion across the layout. Large windows offering abundant natural lighting is another hallmark of this home.
The bench seating provides a space for hidden storage, as well as an opportunity to show off a variety of colors. The throw pillows, seat cushion, and even area rug all spike the neutral palette with color.
The bold stone fireplace really anchors the cottage look of this home, giving it a timeless appeal without taking away from the modern convenience and sleekness of the layout.
