In my humble opinion, mid-century modern aesthetics are the best. I find mid-century modern interiors to be the most stylish, timeless, calming, ergonomic, and satisfying rooms to behold. Emerging in the 1950’s, mid-century modern has stood the test of time, and designers still continuously take inspiration from this incredible time period.
While I’ve been obsessed with mid-century modern aesthetics for a long time, I didn’t necessarily understand what qualified something as being mid-century modern inspired, so I looked it up! Simplicity is really king when it comes to anything MCM. There’s a focus on clean lines, minimal detail, functionality, and really ergonomic and satisfying shapes. Tones are usual neutral, using natural materials, but you can almost always expect a fun pop of color or an unusual shape.
In order to come up with the very specific design ideas, we create most designs with the assistance of state-of-the-art AI interior design software. Also, assume links that take you off the site are affiliate links such as links to Amazon. this means we may earn a commission if you buy something.
Some other features that you can expect from a mid-century modern room include an incorporation of outdoor spaces to the indoor spaces, interesting geometric shapes, and an inclusion of attractive patterns and textiles.
While it’s more common to see mid-century modern living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms, it’s a little bit less common to see mid-century modern bathrooms. The MCM characteristics are a little bit less obvious to point out, but we think we’ve collected a really gorgeous collection of mid-century modern inspired bathroom designs. Hopefully they will fuel all of your very own bathroom renovation projects!

1. The Sandy Mid-Century Modern Bathroom

🔥 Would you like to save this?

Floors & Walls: I think this is my personal favorite of the collection. This bathroom is minimal, elegant, and warm and inviting all at the same time. This perfect bathroom starts with dark brown tiling for the floors, and the entire rest of the room is created from this gorgeous stone that looks like a combination of limestone and jasper. It has a beautiful pattern to it, and such a warm sandy color.
Features: This beautiful bathroom features a tankless toilet, a bidet, a vanity with the same stone countertop and wooden cabinets, as well as a combined shower and bath room. The stand up shower features a waterfall shower head and a gorgeously deep tub set below a little skylight with black framing. So elegant.
Decor: This glorious mid-century modern primary bathroom is elevated with more boho-chic elements, like the hardwood stool, the fun patterned and textured rug, the vase of dried flowers next to the tub, and framed art on the wall. Minimal, organic, perfect.

2. The Model Mid-Century Modern Bathroom

Floors & Walls: Another very beautiful addition to this collection, this elegant bathroom starts with a mosaic of small wooden tiles that look copper colored. I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a wood tiled floor, but it’s inevitably lovely. The walls are made from a really gorgeous, lightly textured, sand colored tile.
Features: This beautiful bathroom features a generously sized double vanity area with sliding wooden doors, and two under-mount bowl sinks. Though the room is big enough already, a huge mirror encasing the entire area above the vanity makes it feel even more expansive.
Decor: Finally a room that is completely decorated! This stunning space comes equipped with a happy bamboo plant in the corner, a lovely ceramic vase with fresh flowers, a cool hanging light fixture, and an even cooler framed print. I find this primary bathroom particularly stylish.

3. The Bright Mid-Century Modern Bathroom

Floors & Walls: I’d say that this bathroom is more on the modern side of mid-century modern designs. It’s using those narrow and low shapes, minimal designs, and simple aesthetics, but all with expert, modern execution. This stellar room starts with gorgeous brown speckled floors that are met with simple white walls and horizontally arranged white tiles.
Features: This bath tub has to be one of my favorites in the collection, with a huge rectangular foundation that’s hosting a super deep and rounded bath tub with minimal hardware. This is matched with a beautiful double vanity with warmly stained wooden cabinets, a white countertop, and matching under-mount sinks.
Decor: While this room is extremely minimally decorated, it does feel very intentionally done. We have a lovely brown bottle hosting some ornamental dried plants, and that’s basically it. This minimalism feels very effective since all of the colors in the room are either brown or white.

4. The Elegant Mid-Century Modern Bathroom

Floors & Walls: We’re finishing off this collection with a very generously sized primary bathroom that starts with beautiful herringbone patterned tan tiles, while the walls are alternating between white paint and a beautiful marble facade.
Features: This huge bathroom features a vanity area not only with a double sink, but it extends the entire length of the room. White cabinets and drawers offer lots of storage space, and it’s been topped with sleek black countertops featuring two squared under-mount sinks. A clear shower room is huge, while a modern shaped tub sits in its own private nook.
Decor: While the room currently isn’t decorated, it could really be elevated by some huge plants in the corners (you can afford the space), some textured towels and bath mats, and maybe even some colorful ceramics on the countertop.
