Mudrooms rock, especially if you have kids. I particularly love the mudroom locker design above (source: Zillow Digs^TM). We went ahead and created design blueprints for the above locker system. They’re below.

But, they can get messy with a capital M.

Our son runs in the house, dumps his shoes anywhere they fall along with his coat and hits his playroom. It doesn’t take long for the mudroom to have shoes, coats, backpacks, hats, mittens, etc. strewn all over the place.

Hooks help. Storage benches help.

But what really helps keep mudrooms tidy are locker cabinets. They give kids a sense of ownership which they keep tidy. It also provides a dedicated space for each person’s coats, shoes, backpack, etc.

Even though I’m not a kid, I love the locker concept because I don’t care for digging for my coat under 3 others stacked on hooks.

I know I’m not alone in this. Mudroom lockers are popular. Our Mudroom design gallery is enormously popular (shared over 18,000 times). People particularly like the mudrooms with lockers.

To that end, we’re starting a series that offers free mudroom design plans which are full blueprints for you to build your own mudroom lockers.
