Welcome to our gallery featuring the incredible Casa di Silvana home by Maurizio Giovannoni.
This uniquely bright and beautiful household is an eclectic, radical redesign of the longtime summer home of a family retreat.
This space has been completely redone in a stunning, open, and welcoming style that blends traditional materials and cutting edge design.
The original structure offered few windows and a closed-off, unwelcoming living space. Too much artificial light was needed inside and it simply felt incompatible with the beautiful surrounding environment.
The first major step was to tear down a wall, making way for a large sliding glass panel that allows for brilliant natural light to pour in from the outdoors.
Because the idea was to brighten and expand the scope of the home, an absolute white tone was chosen as the dominant color. Supporting this are tones of green, helping lend a warm, organic look to the interior.
Minimalist designed furniture fills out the open floor plan with spare grace, offering a flash of detailed beauty without overwhelming the bright space.
Throughout the home, we see minimalist wildflowers and daisies discreetly adorning textiles and vases, providing an artful and metaphorical link with nature. Also featured prominently is a cactus, standing out as a bold conversation piece.
The client was seeking a truly open, light, and “green” space to read, relax, cook, and entertain, all while feeling as if she were in her garden, connected to the environment.
Thus, the overarching design of this home blends interior and surrounding garden into one visual space, connected through the open air.

We approach the home from the garden, which reveals the truly open nature of the design, integrating and meshing with the outdoors via broad openings and massive glass panels. The patio furniture acts as an extension of the comfortable living room.
Speaking of the living room, here’s the full open plan area, wrapping around the kitchen and flush with natural light, courtesy of those large windows. The furniture offers bespoke bursts of color amidst the light neutral palette.
Tucked to the side is this unique dining cove, with open access to the extended kitchen counter on the other side of the wall. A pair of simple white stools offers dining opportunity within the larger room.
Moving to the other side of the counter, we see that the kitchen is wrapped in sleek white surfaces, with minimalist countertops and cabinetry framing sleek black and stainless steel appliances. The bold green tone and textural floral wallpaper enhances the look.
The largely white palette really makes the small instances of color pop. The open floor plan invites plenty of space to move around in, leaving the furniture to stand in spare elegance.
Here’s a close look at some of the light green wall tones and floral patterns found throughout the home. They mesh with the natural wood accents perfectly, for a warm, inviting look.
Here’s that aforementioned cactus art, hanging proudly on the wall and providing a stylistically coherent addition to the visual space.
Now we see a closeup look at the subtle floral print wallpaper adorning part of the kitchen wall, lending a bit of textural complexity to the bright, minimalist space.
This deep focus shot reveals some of the intricate yet subtle lighting design of this home interior, boasting a pair of discreet cylinder lights. We also see the vibrant contrast between the floral wall and the green paint.
Finally we return to the exquisite backyard patio area, with its flooring that visually extends the living room into the outdoors. This space, wrapped in greenery, is a perfect thematic extension of the home interior.
