The Obvious Headquarters building is a conceptual three-story structure. It’s an office, residential apartment, and parking area all in one building. It is going to be located about half of a mile inland from the Atlantic Ocean, in the small town of Hobe Sound, Florida.
On the ground floor of this South Florida building, there are several office suites available for lease. There are executive apartments on the second and third floors of the building.
Hughes Umbanhowar Architects made this structure with the goal of maintaining the small town feel of this neighborhood. They created a sustainable and respectful living and working environment that blends perfectly with the surrounding area.
The Design
While the atmosphere of Oblivious Headquarters is functional, the design of the building is far from conventional. It’s built on the concept of a seed and sprout. There are two distinctly different sections of the structure. The small and plain main section is the “seed,” and the smaller and squirming section is the “sprout.”
The seed and sprout concept is also a metaphor of the company as well, and the architects did an outstanding job of capturing this idea with their design.
From the street, the Oblivious Headquarters is supposed to look like any other commercial or residential building. As you drive into the rear parking area of the building, you will notice the “sprout” section is completely covered by different plants. These plants use the sun’s strength and power to grow and evolve.
The plants are not the only things that get powered by the sun. There are solar panels on the top of the building. These panels turn sunlight into energy the powers all of the electrical components of the building. There is another garden space on the first floor that represents the growth of the headquarters.
Additional Features
There are triple glazed window systems throughout the entirety of the building. There are full gray water and rain harvesting pond included in the building as well. The building is massive, and the entire is space is 15,400 square feet.
Although the building is still in the construction-drawing phase, the idea is unique and amazing. It’s the perfect design for Oblivious Headquarters. People will enjoy working and living in this distinctive structure.
Overall, the seed and sprout concept is the defining feature and metaphor that is unmatched by other building in the neighborhood.
