Blalock owns Plantation Reclaimed Inc., a labor of love that finds her rescuing antique wood as old as 200 years. The reclaimed barn wood flooring and primary bedroom accent wall is from Plantation Reclaimed Inc. Plantation Reclaimed Inc. ships nationwide.
Blalock spared little with this home: reclaimed barn wood flooring spans both levels, while a striking accent wall in an upstairs bedroom, hand-hewed beams, and custom-made rolling barn doors leading into the primary bedroom lends the home its considerable charm and distinctiveness.
The floors themselves are custom milled to exacting specifications; boards are hand crafted one plank at a time.

Upon entering, the first thing you cannot help but notice is all of the gorgeous reclaimed wood floors gracing the majority of the home’s floors. That wood is not without its own story – all of it comes from a 100-year-old barn that once stood in Tennessee.
Stepping into the dining room, it is hard to miss the coffered ceiling beams, so common in much older homes, jetting above your head. Add to that several reclaimed items, such as the folding door in the corner, and the whimsical theme introduced by the century-old wood floors is further highlighted.
Looking out toward the front of the home reveals a trio of knee-to-ceiling windows as beautiful as they are functional. Letting in ample amounts of natural light, the way the tops of the window frames tangle with the ceiling beams above creates a tantalizing set of patterns that is sure to draw a fascinated eye.
In the family room, the battered history of the reclaimed barn wood flooring mixes nicely with the elegant coffered ceiling beams and red-brick fireplace. The graceful chandelier paired with the recessed lighting adroitly combines tradition with modern utility.
The family room, from another angle, features curved-top doorways, turning what may at first seem like a small space into a perfect transition room between the adjacent kitchen and dining room.
Ample stone and wooden counter space great you as you venture into the kitchen. With its adjacent pantry and breakfast nook, this kitchen offers plenty of streamlined moving space without having to surrender your cucina (Italian for ‘kitchen) to unused areas or uncomfortable corners.
The kitchen from another angle reveals the keeping room, a traditional area attached to the kitchen that handles overflow when you entertain. The long bar separating the kitchen from the keeping room is perfect for a couple bar stools in case your guests would like to do some quick, relaxed eating.
The aforementioned keeping room, just off the main kitchen area, is perfect for light entertainment activities, such as serving treats during the big game or for children to set up an epic board game contest.
Throughout the home, custom made barn wood rolling doors makes this home’s connection go beyond just the floorboards. The reclaimed wooden doors and the flooring mix nicely to maintain the classic/modern hybrid.

Once you walk into the primary bedroom, the wooden accent wall, straight from an old barn in Georgia, and the Kentucky farm crossbeam deepen the home’s connection to the past. Windows on three sides provides loads of natural light, and the deep breadth of the room allow for a sitting area opposite the entrance.
A smaller room at the front of the house boasts two large windows overlooking the front yard. The overhead ceiling fan is sure to keep the room’s air flow and ambiance moving along.

Finally, the third bedroom turns a curved ceiling, rear-yard facing windows, and a small dividing wall into a innovative sleeping/entertainment space. Just down the hall is a bathroom and kitchenette.
Despite the sloped ceiling in the adjacent bedroom, the kitchenette and bathroom provide the occupant with enough room for creature comforts, making the prospect of leaving the room almost superfluous.
Entering into the bathroom, you’ll notice an walk-in shower, tiled floors, and a nifty wash basin. The three elements combine to provide an elegant, functional lavatory.
When it comes to style, though, the primary bathroom is a cut above the rest. Entering to face the sink area, a convenient walk in shower sits off to the left.
Also nestled next to the shower, a clawfoot tub sits tantalizing beneath a half window. The bathroom offers ample space without feeling like a mausoleum.
One of the downstairs bathrooms features clean lines and the same wash basin style as the upstairs bathrooms. Storage under the sinks frees up space typically reserved for additional, space-gobbling wall shelving and closets.
