For people who like bright, happy colors, orange may be one of their favorites. It comes in a variety of shades so that it can be used in almost any room of a house, including the kitchen. If this color is one of your favorites, then here are some orange kitchen design ideas that you may like.

Paint or Stain?

There are two ways you can incorporate orange into your kitchen; you can paint the walls with it or stain the wood floors or cabinets with an orange wood tone. With bright orange, you may want to use it sparingly by painting one wall as the focal point of the room. Whether it is a muted orange or a darker color, like a burnt orange, it would go well with cabinets that have a white finish.

Orange Wood Stain

Not many people have orange kitchens, as a recent survey of over 907,000 kitchens, found that orange was only in about 1.9% of them. However, instead, of painting the walls to get an orange kitchen, you can use orange wood stains.

Although some exotic woods have natural orange hues, they are rare, which translates into expensive. The less expensive route would be to have your wood flooring or cabinets finished in an orangey stain color.

Less is More

Instead of being overwhelmed with a bright orange kitchen, the color can be used subtly by incorporating orange appliances in a white kitchen or using orange tiles or backsplashes on the wall behind your stove or sink.

Some stone countertops, such as granite or quartz, may have hints of orange in them as well. Take a look at some of these orange kitchen design ideas for inspiration on how to incorporate this color into your kitchen.

Kitchen Styles

There are many kitchen styles in which you can add orange. Tropical kitchens would especially work well with an orange palette as it is one of the colors found in exotic tropical birds and flowers. However, orange would also work well in modern or eclectic kitchen designs as they both include some man-made materials, like Formica or vinyl in orange tones.

If you’re looking for a bright color to liven up your home, then orange may be a good color choice for you. Along with its bright hues, it is also available in muted and darker orange tones, like peach or pumpkin orange, which can be incorporated in your kitchen.
