About the Firm Realrich Architecture Workshop
Realrich Architecture Workshop which well known by the name of RAW Architecture is an experimental design studio created by Realrich Sjarief. The Studio continues the craftsmanship technique of 3 generations of Realrich’s builder family since Indonesia independence. The conceptual approach involves a poetic solution to overcome the design brief.
The technique elaborated in the Realrich Architecture Workshop is the studies of context, application of tectonics grammar, evaluation of critical methodology grammar, and uses of stereotomic forms. The sum of all of the concept calls the objective of the studio to achieve a natural state of architectural mastery.
Guha is a combination of a new and renovation project of The Guild, that houses Omah Library, dental clinic, residence, and Guha Bamboo – the office of RAW Architecture firm. The renovation section was done for Omah Library to add more storage, bookstore, and library.
RAW Architect experimented with nine materials for the Guha construct including steel, wood, glass, metal, gypsum, bamboo, plastic, stone, and concrete. The layout is open and flexible to correspond with Indonesia’s tropical climate.
The construction was done by generations of craftsmen from West Java and they integrated traditional construction techniques like the Fish Mouth joint with more modern construction methods.

The construction of Guha sees RAW Architecture experimenting with nine materials
Guha is a combination of new and renovation projects based on previously “The Guild” located in Taman Villa Meruya. The Project consists of Omah Library, Dental Clinic, residence, and Realrich Sjarief’s studio named Guha Bambu, The studio is Realrich Architecture Workshop (well known by name of RAW Architecture). The renovation section is consisted of adding sequence for adding elaborated programs for Omah Library such as more storage for bookshelves, bookstore, and gallery.
The circulation is designed to separate the public and private which is solved by separating the access at the entrance. The new project, named Guha Bambu is on the east side. This building stands in the lot of 7.5 x 26 m size consisted new 3 story Bamboo structure, 2 stories of the basement. The technique to build the structure is elaborated from the experimental school of the alfa omega project. The technique separates the steel plane truss structure as a roof and bamboo structure to hold the 3-floor plate under the steel structure roof.
Construction of Guha is elaborated into 9 materials, to sum up, craftmanship experimentation in Realrich Architecture Workshops such as steel, wood, glass, metal, gypsum, bamboo, plastic, stone, and concrete. The layout is flexible, and open while some of the rooms are opened by a minimum of 2 doors allowing further scenarios while the program can be changed. The idea is basically addressing the tropical climate to open north-south and close the facade on the west side.
The Facade is basically basic material, concrete, vertical louver by steel, and bamboo. The program it self challenge the typical housing in Indonesia to be mixed with more micro business programs such as education, even coffee shop in the future by maintaining the privacy and opening itself to the public. The construction is done by generations of craftsman from west java who integrate some of the traditional fish mouth joint in bamboo constructions and more modern construction methods such as steel and construction.
