I had mountains of fun putting together this collection of sleek glass houses from dozens of world-renowned architects we’ve partnered with over the years (i.e. have featured on this site).
What do I mean by a glass house?
It’s not a greenhouse. It also doesn’t mean glass is the only exterior material (as in 100% glass). To qualify for this post a house had to have significant glass for the exterior whether entire walls or large windows (and many of them).
The predominant architectural style featured here is modern, but there are some contemporary styles such as contemporary beach styles and others.
Why was this so fun to put together?
It gave me a chance to comb through over 500 featured architectural designs going back years which I enjoyed immensely. It brought me back a few years and even reminded me when the first architect agreed for me to feature them on the site. When they agreed, I knew this site had potential.
It was also fun because I absolutely love houses with plenty of glass; I’m a sucker for the modern style and so it was fun looking at all these amazing designs.
If you like modern homes with lots of glass and windows, you’ll love this extensive collection. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by.
Photos of spectacular glass houses
Check out this spectacular glass house we found on Redfin. It’s enormous with a massive courtyard, infinity pool, master bedroom on a bridge and nearly every room has floor-to-ceiling glass. Everything is state-of-the art. Even the garage is cool.
This house (above) is definitely one of my all-time favorite. It’s good the property is private because most this house has a glass exterior. It’s a wide, but very shallow house spanning the width of the shallow lot overlooking the Pacific ocean. You have to see the rest of this incredible home.
Above is a spectacular urban 3 storey glass house on a hill with city views in Seattle. It features 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 3,290 sq. ft. and incredible views, rooftop deck, open concept living with views from every area and a spectacular modern master bedroom with a fireplace.
The above home is largely glass – floor-to-ceiling glass with incredible views of the grounds, including swimming pool, from pretty much every room. You’ll also love the interior design of this home.
Designed by Luca Lanzetta Group.
SAOTA is one of my favorite architects. They are prolific in the volume of stunning private homes they design. They have a distinctive style which I love. This particular one is an example of their style and as you can see it incorporates plenty of glass.
The above home was designed by Paul Bernier Architecte. It’s like a sleek long piece of wood settled on the floor of a forest. The living space of the home enjoys almost all glass exterior.
Designed by Heusche Inc., this is home is total California all in white with floor to ceiling windows looking out on a huge infinity pool on a cliff overlooking Los Angeles.
Here’s another example of a glass house by SAOTA. I love the mix of natural wood and glass. Modern? Yes, but not cold. It’s stunning in every respect when at the end of the day it’s pretty much all wood and glass with a little stone.
Hughes Umbanhowar Architects designed this Mid-Century modern style home in Southern California. The entire rear of the home is all glass looking out over a pool and trees.

You can’t get more of a glass house than that except for maybe a glass roof. The straight lines are tempered with huge jutting round wing which looks really cool. It’s hard to tell whether the entire design would be better off all straight lines. What do you think? Designed by David James Architects. See more here.
Talk about clever hillside home design. I love how the sections point in different directions. Each section delineated by huge windows. Designed by Cadaval & Solà-Morales. See more here.
Check out this modern gem with loads of huge windows looking out over a clear blue swimming pool. Canny is one of the most popular architects in the world for good reason. They design a lot of homes and their work is amazing. See more here.
Normally this modern white and glass style home is set near the water or have a massive pool in the backyard. It’s not a design you typically see on a large sprawling lawn property like this, but it sure looks like a glimmering gem on a hill. Check out those massive windows especially the most prominent section of the home. Designed by Swatt Miers Architects. See more here.
Non-Featured Glass Houses
Below you’ll find dozens more glass homes, but they aren’t from architects featured here so there aren’t links to check out more of the home.
Not as much glass as other examples here, but there are sections with towering glass walls which gives this modern design a glass house of sorts.
Large square-like modern white and glass home (rendering) with backyard patio. It really needs a pool, don’t you think?
I love how the pool fits into the nook of the home making it look like this home with extensive windows is sitting on water.
Classic tropical villa home where almost every square foot of the L-shaped home is floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the gorgeously manicured backyard with pool.
This house reminds me of a spacecraft with the jutting second floor overlooking the valley. It’s kind of cool.
