I’m not sure the person who created the methodology for this survey even KNOWS any retirees (not to mention Louisiana as a state). Some of those categories are non-starters. Louisiana has a lot of the same weather from the Gulf of Mexico to the Arkansas state line, although North Louisiana does have more of a four-seasons model than the southernmost part of the state. On the whole, however, seniors are very invested in the cost of housing and the crime rate. Any town with a C rating for crime (or for cost of housing) would be eliminated as unsafe for seniors. Proximity to airports is more relevant to young people than to retirees. And cultural activities are great; what about activities for seniors? Having visited all of these towns and lived in several, I would say that there are very few that would be real draws for Louisiana retirees, much less those from other states. And some of the other towns โ should a better methodology be used โ would rate much higher in elements that retirees would be attracted to.
I think Sibley should be #1 and Minden #2. Why? You may ask. Great churches (Especially Sibley Missionary Baptist And Eastside Missionary Baptist) and great schools.
The Police Departments are first rate and led by great Chiefs of Police and great Mayors.
Consider Franklinton. Small town charm with seasonal activities. Perfect properties for homesteaders.
What about St Francisville, small town feel, a lot of seasonal activities.
