Welcome to our gallery highlighting the design work in this unique California flat, by Kerrie Kelly Design Lab.
The owners wanted a designer apartment on a budget.ย Whileย incorporating some of their own furniture, they wanted to dress up the space with some highly patterned and textured pieces.
The apartment is open plan with a kitchen,ย dining, andย sitting area, a small hall, three bedrooms, a den, a large bathroom, and a smaller bathroom. The space is ideal for the young business professionals the apartments were built for.
On entering, theย timber floor is an immediate draw, as it continuesย into the sitting room and kitchen area; itโs actually a laminate floor made to look like grey washed hardwood. A dark timber bench sits snugly just inside the door with a selection of brightly colored cushions, bringing color and texture to the space.
The kitchen appearsย in traditional white with a large island topped with quartz, incorporating a breakfast bar and double sink.ย A large floor to ceiling eyelet curtain acts as a fabric wall when the curtains are open.
The wide plank laminate floor flowsย into the sitting room area, where a natural fiber rug holds the center. The cream sofa is spiced upย with large scattered cushions and two occasional seats in patterned fabric. Aย selection of side tables bundled together createย the same function as a coffee table. The eclectic mix of patterns and designs give the space its character and function.
The bedrooms are all very different but feature similarly strong colors, while an office rounds out the apartment.ย Framed prints add an extra dimension of color and texture to all of the rooms.
The quartz countertops and white tile backsplash create contrasting texture within the white kitchen, sandwiched between layers of hardware-less cabinetry.
A small round table seats four in the spaceย beside a large patio door. The designer choseย a harlequin set of dining chairs, two faux red leather and two white timber.
The glass topped round table is decorated with white dishes and Cola bottles that mirror the pop art on the wall above.
In the living room, the trio of smaller tables replaces a traditional coffee table in appealing fashion, while the eclectic burst of colors makes for visually arresting surroundings.
The intricately patterned side chairs flank a solid wood circular table beneath one of the large art pieces featured in the home.
The foyer sports white painted staircase and rich dark wood bench, spiked with bold colors, from the red front door to the pillows and paintings spread throughout.
This bespoke bedroom features a rich leather headboard behind green bedding, flanked by a pair of black side tables with complementary lamps. Matching paintings hang above.
This daybed framed in deep black provides flexible seating or sleeping in the second bedroom, over a beehive pattern rug.
The primary bedroom features a striking mixture of blues and white, with a pair of bold side tables flanking the bed. A large oil painting hangs above, while cubic ottoman sits below the window.
This bathroom rephrases the blue tones of the primary bedroom on the patterned shower curtain, beside a traditional white toned setup.
The home office stands apart with sharp horizontal lines wrapping the entire room. Mirrored surfaces abound, from the table to wall hanging pieces, around a thick, minimalist desk.
The primary bathroom features an L-shaped dual vanity, with white tile complementing the white cabinetry. Frameless large mirrors meet in the corner to expand the visual space.
