Welcome to our gallery featuring another fantastic home by Garrison Hullinger Interior Design.
Looking at the exterior, a sense of awe and wonder at the sprawling, stately Portland home strikes the viewer.
The home doesn’t just look enormous, it has spacious, open rooms, including bars, great rooms, a study, a mudroom, and many other gorgeous and functional amenities that make this home a one of a kind space perfect for family life and entertaining.
Garrison Hullinger Interior Design had previously designed the interior of the owner’s vacation home, so when it came time to redesign their cramped, dark, and non-functional family home, the owners paired their favorite award-winning architect with their favorite designers to create a spacious, fully-functional, modernized home that’s full of light and sophistication.
The resulting interior design has a feel of being “grown up” without having rooms that are too clinical and pristine.
As it is a family home, Garrison Hullinger Interior Design selected fabrics and materials that would both look great and stand up to the wear and tear of a growing family. Warm tones throughout the home’s rooms lend an inviting air to the space.
We hope you’ll enjoy this fantastic, sprawling family home on the west coast!
The entrance to the family home has beautiful wide plank wood floors and a gently curving staircase with light carpet treads. Wainscoting along the walls adds a subtle sense of sophistication. A small settee near the entrance is perfect for removing shoes. French doors lead directly to the back courtyard.
Nearest the door is the formal living room, which is in soft, warm beige. On the far wall are two aged leather armchairs. A large vase of bright pink tulips grace the coffee table, which also has a faux crocodile-skin textured tray on the top. Another set of French doors lead out to the courtyard.
The cavernous kitchen is in a beautiful white that contrasts with the wide plank dark hardwood floors. Long chrome handles complement the stainless steel high-end appliances. The enormous marble-topped kitchen island has an eat-in bar for four.

A look from the opposite side of the kitchen at the extensive cabinetry and the lovely breakfast nook that’s surrounded by windows.
The breakfast nook consists of a U-shaped bench and two chairs with a light wood table in the center. The nook has windows on three sides, which let in the morning light. Above the table is a simple, delicate chandelier.
The formal dining room has an ornate, beautifully inlaid dining table and mismatched upholstered dining chairs. A pair of French doors lead out into the backyard. A small buffet on the left wall is topped by a large watercolor painting. The sconces on either side perfectly match the chandelier above the table.
A close up on the buffet in the dining room, focusing on the speckled walls and the accents. The lime-green vase filled with dogwood blossoms picks up the same green in the painting.
A masculine bedroom filled with sports memorabilia. The same dark hardwood floors as the rest of the home continue into this room, and the wall behind the bed has a fantastic black and white mural. The low-profile platform bed is upholstered in light gray.

The home’s great room has coffered ceilings and a large stone hearth fireplace with a white mantle and an inset television. The room is filled with soft, comfortable furniture, including two enormous pillows for lounging on the floor. On either side of the great room are French doors that lead out onto the patio.

A chic, contemporary bedroom with soft ruffled bedding and a color palette of light blue, turquoise, and orange. A wide settee is in the right corner, with a soft throw blanket and a bold pillow. A delicate crystal chandelier hangs above the center of the bed. An adjustable floor lamp provides perfect reading light above the settee.
Adjacent to the formal living room is a smaller room that acts as a study area for the family’s children. A bench seat sits along one wall, opposite the desk area.
Another enormous bedroom filled with basketball memorabilia. The footboard of the bed has open shelving. The adjustable bedside lamps pull out some of the yellow in the area rug. The barrel vaulted ceiling is a beautiful architectural detail.
A look at the other side of the room, showing the patterned sofa against the double windows.
A stylish feminine bedroom with a white wrought iron bed frame and a color palette of gray, light blue, and orange. On the wall behind the bed are two small paintings.
The formal study has a very traditional, elegant design and built-in shelving behind the spacious desk.
In the basement of the home is the family room, a two sectioned space that includes a lengthy bar that is facing a wall-mounted television. The back wall is decorated with a scoreboard.
On the other side of the room is the cavernous family room with a huge U-shaped sectional sofa with several ottomans. The walls are decorated with framed jerseys. The left wall has one large television and two smaller ones beside it for an optimal game watching experience.
The home’s mudroom is in white with individual storage lockers and small cubbies beneath each locker.
The home’s backyard has an enormous stone patio with a wood-burning fireplace. Four chairs and a sofa are arranged around a concrete coffee table.
