The color blue can be so many different things. It can evoke feelings of serenity and calm, or it can be bold and surprising. Blue can remind you of days by the oceanside or it can resemble a clear blue sky. It can feel regal and opulent, and it can also be playful and bright.
Blue is obviously one of my favorite colors, and it’s found throughout my entire home. If you’re doing some interior decorating in your home and you’re looking to get a little bit more adventurous with color, blue is a good place to start.
The bedroom is also a great room to start out with experimenting with colors. Blue is the perfect color for the bedroom since there are so many calming and serene shades of it, and because it’s the only room in your home that is just for you. So without further ado, hopefully you find tons of inspiration in this collection of blue bedrooms.
1. The Deep Ocean Blue Bedroom
Floors & Walls: We’re starting off this collection with a room that is using very classic elements in order to create a space that it cozy, elegant, and inviting. This starts with antique looking hardwood floors in a beautiful stain, which is coupled with white walls and a gorgeous dark blue accent wall.
While using a shade blue this dark can sometimes run the risk of making a room too dark, this space luckily has huge windows to let that light in, and we also have lighter features in the linens and rug to make sure that the whole thing feels balanced.
Furniture: This blue bedroom is very elegant furnished with a bed frame that is using huge pillows instead of head board, two sweet little side tables with black framing and wooden tops, and a cozy ottoman upholstered with gray dimpled upholstery.
Decor: I very much appreciate the tasteful decoration happening in this room, starting with the twin hanging lamps on either side of the bed, the vase filled with decorative branches, the cozy and textured area rug underneath the bed, and the lovely framed art pieces. The decoration is both boho chic and classic at the same time!

2. The Classic Comfort Blue Bedroom
Floors & Walls: Here we have a great example of a bedroom that is using really simple elements done super well to create a superbly cozy bedroom. And this bedroom starts with a super sandy color of wood that is spread all throughout the room, including the floors and doorways. The walls come in two shades of blue: one super subtle sage blue, while the other is a navy or midnight blue as an accent wall.
Furniture: I personally love the idea of using the same wood stain for your furniture as you would you floors, and we see that here with the same sandy stained bed from with headboard, and matching side table with little drawers. It creates a rather satisfying cohesion.
Decor: The blue theme continues through out the room with subtle additions found in the decoration. There are blue accents on the throw pillows, blue flecks in the blanket, and even the curtains have a navy tip to them. Mirrored lamps match the metallic circular mirror hanging above the bed. This room is just so matchy matchy!
3. The Minty Blue Bedroom
Floors & Walls: There’s something about this room that makes me happy. Though I don’t think I’d personally design my own room this way, I would certainly leave a 5 star review for a bed and breakfast that is decorated in this way.
The room starts with some gorgeous hardwood floors that have been covered up by a beige area rug. The walls themselves are a minty blue color, which we see speckled throughout the rest of the room. I think this particular shade of blue only because of the white ceiling with lovely wooden beams running across. This provides a rustic element that I think offsets the shade of blue.
Furniture: While I personally wouldn’t pick a canopy bed for my room, I can still appreciate the way the bed is decorated and situated. Accent tables on either side of the bed match a gorgeous antique wooden bench at the end of it. Two lounging chairs, one in a beautiful velour mint upholstery and the other in what looks like a beige subtle leopard print upholstery somehow complete this room for me. And who wouldn’t adore a wood fireplace in their bedroom!
Decor: I kind of adore how much the colors are matching in this space. Pretty much all we have are wooden elements, cream, and mint. Creamy curtains match the bed spread and lamp shades, while mint is found in the dust ruffle, duvet cover, pillows, and even the little bench under the side table.

4. The Country Blue Bedroom
Floors & Walls: I find this room to be rather adorable. This room feels lived in and like it actually belongs to someone, which I think is what feels most appealing about it to me. This pretty room starts with a dark hardwood floor that is adorned with a raspberry patterned area rug.
The walls have been painted an absolutely gorgeous dusty baby blue color, while leaving the trim and ceilings a warm cream color. I find that this shade of blue and the raspberry of the Persian rug to go together really beautifully.
Furniture: This room is complete with a generous queen sized bed with a tiny plaid upholstered headboard, a cute little curved sofa with clawfoot legs, and a gorgeous hardwood armoire that matches the stain of the hardwood floors wonderfully.
Decor: Though some may claim that they are outdated, I personally love the plaid textile that has been used for the curtains in this room. I especially love that the curtains match the pillowcases on the bed, and those same shades are brought to the throw pillows on the sofa as well. Country chic through and through!

5. The Blue Elegance Bedroom
Floors & Walls: This classic and beautiful primary bedroom matches so well with itself that I hardly know what to do with myself! The space starts with hardwood floors that have been protected by a large area rug with a beehive pattern in a dark blue color. The walls are painted the most delicate show of sky blue you’ve ever seen with white trim.
Furniture: Here is where the matching skills really start to get wild. A beautiful bed frame with white cushioned edges and a headboard feels both elegant and cozy, while a little distressed dresser for a side table adds a cute rustic element. Powder blue velour accent chairs are regal and also just so happen to match the blue throw pillows wonderfully. My personal favorite piece is this gorgeously ornate ottoman with a fun striped upholstery.
Decor: I really adore how the bed spread is another color of subtle stripes to match the little ottoman. If there is a shade of color anywhere, it will be matched with in another portion of the room you can be certain! I find this room so elegant and lovely.

6. The Comfy Cozy Blue Bedroom
Floors & Walls: I almost feel like this room and the last one was designed by the same person. So many of the same elements, but they’re in subtly different ways. And yet, they both evoke a feeling of class but comfort, of elegance but simply done.
The room starts with lightly stained wood floors that have been decorated with a lightly colored and nicely patterned area rug. The walls have been painted a lovely light shade of powder blue, while the trim and ceiling are a clean white.
Furniture: Another plush bed frame really entices you to jump on in and take a nap. A fun accent chair lounger in a beautiful blue patterned upholstery keeps the blue theme going, while I love the use of a pouff as an ottoman for the chair. A funny little bench at the end of the bed matches the upholstery, but the framing for it is entirely unique.
Decor: This room really comes together because of the dedication to cozy linens I think. A rich and lovely royal blue bed spread with matching pillowcases matches the throw pillow on the chair, while a sweet little throw blanket with a pompom fringe is adorable.

7. The Subtle Blue Extravagance Bedroom
Floors & Walls: I really like this bedroom. It starts with rich and dark hardwood floors that guide us towards a beautiful powder blue wall with white trim. The ceilings are gorgeous with crown moulding in cream, but we see the powder blue on the ceiling as well. Gorgeous bay windows with black window framing really make the room feel extra special.
Furniture: The furniture pieces in this space were very well thought out, with a dark hardwood bed frame to match both the floors and the dresser of a similar shade. A sweet little velour sofa in blue looks perfect under those bay windows, while cow skin stools for the end of the bed bring a rustic western element which I always appreciate.
Decor: This room is just riddled with dashing decorations. From the variety of throw pillows strewn across the bed and sofa, the simple lamps, the interesting ceramics, the fuzzy caramel colored rug, to the sheer patterned curtains and elegant chandelier: this room was thought out.

8. The Subtle Sage Bedroom
Floors & Walls: Yet another simple and elegant bedroom that matches itself just perfectly. I think I could wake up to that view in that bed from the rest of my days! Oatmeal colored carpeting adorns the floors, while the walls are a very beautiful shade of light blue with a hint of green in it. Gorgeous windows with wide ivory framing provide a lovely offset, and vaulted ceilings add quite a bit of interest.
Furniture: The simple and perfect bedroom set comes together with a tasteful bed frame with cream colored upholstery, while dark hardwood dressers provide a nice contrast against the lighter tones. My particular favorite piece of furniture in this room is the beautiful lounge chair with an elegant dimpled upholstery that is a silky version of the walls.
Decor: This bedroom is very tastefully decorated with matching table lamps, some lovely pink patterned throw pillows on the bed, and a robust looking chandelier. This room is tasteful from the very top to the very bottom.

9. The Getaway Blue Bedroom
Floors & Walls: There is something absolutely heavenly about this primary bedroom. It has a sense of magic to it, though each element alone is quite simple, when they’re put together, they create something perfect. This bedroom starts with dark hardwood floors which are met with very light powder blue walls. What makes this room very special is the absolutely gorgeous wooden ceilings that I imagine hold host to turrets on the outer part of the house.
Furniture: We have a gorgeous bedroom set in this space. A bed frame with white suede upholstery that is attached with metallic studs, which match the two accent chairs gorgeously. A distressed side table and dresser provide that boho chic rustic aspect that is always such a good choice when the other furniture is more elegant and refined.
Decor: Classy decoration has been used for this lovely bedroom. I love the shade of bedding that has been used for the sleeping area, and the subtle metallic texture of the bed spread adds a little extra something that goes a long way. Matching table lamps illuminate framed sketches of flowers. Just lovely.

10. The Hermitage Blue Bedroom
Floors & Walls: While many of the other primary bedrooms in this collective have leaned towards the lighter shades of blue, this bedroom is a wonderful representation of how to use darker shades of blue in a way that doesn’t become too dark or too overbearing.
This room starts with darker hardwood floors that are adorned with an area rug with metallic white textures and splashes of dark teal throughout. Walls are decorated with a wallpaper in a very dark ocean blue color with a subtle striped pattern. This dark wall color is offset by ivory ceilings and trim.
Furniture: This bedroom is designed in more of a masculine way, with a bed frame with a tri point head board in dark hardwood, a leather bench at the foot of the bed, and a particularly lovely leather accent chair with wooden framing. Golden chests have been used as side tables which provide a great pop of color and texture!
Decor: This bedroom is adorned with more hardy decorations, found in the metallic throw pillows, the candle-style wall lamp, and framed artwork that matches the color scheme swimmingly. Hot tip: having your curtains reach the top of the ceiling and having them cascade all the way to the floor is a great way to make a room feel taller!

11. The Sky Bedroom
Floors & Walls: Though many aspects of this room are a little bit outdated, I couldn’t really do a blue-themed bedroom collection without including one with a ceiling like this one! Imagine waking up to a mural of a puffy cloud blue sky every morning.
The curved ceiling is just lovely, while landscape windows on every wall reveal the gorgeous view outside. I think if it were me, I would have just continued the sky mural to the walls as well. Beautiful hardwood floors are adorned with a red Persian rug, and a wood fireplace is encompassed by a cream facade.
Furniture: This gorgeous lake house bedroom would certainly bring me joy if I got to sleep in it after a day in the sun. I would personally switch out all of the furniture in this room for something a little bit more midcentury modern, but that’s just me!
Decor: There isn’t much in way of decoration in this room, but that just means it leaves so much room for imagination! This room is just begging for some big and happy plants in my opinion, and perhaps a low book case or credenza.
This classic lake house bedroom design is thanks to HAYNES & GARTHWAITE ARCHITECTS.
12. The Oceanside Blue Bedroom
Floors & Walls: This room reminds me of my ex boyfriend’s parent’s beach house in southern Florida that we used to visit. The balcony looks like the exact balcony we would sit on a each fish dip and read books for hours in between swims in the ocean.
An oceanside home like this just begs for ocean themed things, and though many people would consider that outdated, I can’t help but be tickled by it! Lightly stained wood floors meet with bright blue walls with white trim, which is where the color scheme begins.
Furniture: While the bed frame in this room is simple atrocious, I do appreciate the distressed side dressers which go wonderfully with the ocean house theme. I also love the view of the balcony outside revealing those lounge chairs. I could probably fall asleep in one of those!
Decor: Beach themed decor wouldn’t be complete with a dried out starfish (did you know they’re still alive when you pick them up off the beach and they literally rot in your house? Wild), Spongebob Squarepants themed window covers, and of course some grass curtains. It’s so novel I adore it.

13. The Tiffany Blue Bedroom
Floors & Walls: This looks like what my dream bedroom would have looked like as a teenager. But now that I think about, I’d probably be completely happy living in this bedroom now! Ivory carpets adorne the floors, while the most gentle shade of Robin’s egg blue covers the walls and ceiling, while white adorns the trim and vaulted beams.
Furniture: All we see in the room is the gorgeous lounging chair with beautiful sage suede upholstery. My personal favorite area of the room is the little reading nook that’s nestled right in to its own window that’s topped with a light blue cushion. I can imagine myself as a 12 year old staring out the window, listening to Coldplay on my walkman, thinking about a boy named Johnny and painting my nails.
Decor: This room is very minimally decorated but it’s really keeping up with the blue theme with a dark teal throw blanket, patterned duvet cover, and little potted flowers about the room. I wouldn’t decorate this room too much if it were mine, since the view outside of the expansive windows it so glorious.

14. The Artsy Blue Bedroom
Floors & Walls: Finally! A shade of blue that isn’t delicate Robin’s egg or light powder blue! This is such a bold color of blue to choose for your walls, but honestly, I’m here for it. This blueberry blue looks impeccably gorgeous against all of the red accents throughout the room, though i think I could have done without the red carpet.
Furniture: A very uniquely shaped bed frame with a pointed head board with polka dots sets the mood for the room. A lovely patterned accent chair sits in front of a clear glass coffee table, while a little chest has been used cleverly as a TV stand.
Decor: I personally love the way that this room has been decorated because it feels genuinely lived in. A gorgeous Persian rug ties all of the blue and red together in the room, while personal knick knacks bring personality.
