Bathroom Styles
A skylight works well in any style of bathroom. Changes in the number, size, and opening can match the look you’re trying to create. According to our interior design survey, the top style choices are:

Each of them offers excellent opportunities for creating a tranquil space. It’s not surprising that styles such as Southwestern and Victorian are on the bottom of the list be presumably because of the contrasting associations of dryness and stuffiness they may evoke. That is also reflected in the color choices.
Bathroom Colors
Earth tones are the favorite hues for this room. With the addition of a skylight, it’s easy to see why. The top five picks for overall room color are:
- Brown
- White
- Gray
- Beige
- Black
Black is a curious choice given its associations with power, authority, and strength. You may think it a good selection for a masculine primary bathroom. However, according to a special study by the National Association of Home Builders, his and her baths are one of the least wanted options for a new home. Respondents would much rather have an exhaust fan or bathroom linen closet.
Lighter colors prevail in other bathroom features include vanities, wall tiles, and cabinets. They are an ideal choice to take advantage of the streaming sunlight coming in from a skylight. We’re all for making the most of this unique feature.
Flooring Materials and Colors
The polished surface of some flooring types offers an excellent way to take advantage of the natural light. Our survey found that the most favored materials include:

These types also tie in with the nature connection of other features of the primary bathroom. It is evident in the color choices too. The top ones are:

Again, we see black as a favorite pick. We should point out that the hue also conveys feelings of sophistication which are quite appropriate for this room. The combination of the dark-colored flooring and the bright sunlight provide a stunning contrast that would make this room stand out as the height of class.
More primary bathrooms with skylights
