Welcome to our gallery showcasing the brilliance and breadth of beautiful kitchens with skylights. Skylights have flowered from primitive fixed-glass openings into the multifaceted design elements they are today, with the march of technology and some creative architectural progress. We all know, in a basic sense, what they add to any given room: sunlight.
There’s more to it than that, however. With the careful deployment of skylights, you can truly open up a room in ways that mere lighting, paint, and standard window design could never accomplish. Our eyes naturally gravitate skyward, and an opening within the home makes for an intrinsically more open feeling.
The best examples of skylight usage take us beyond this concept, crafting entirely novel experiences within familiar spaces. Today, we focus strictly on kitchens with skylights, and have highlighted some of the most shining examples from our extensive collection.
You’ll likely find yourself surprised at the sheer variety of shape and context in which these features appear. Skylights are first informed by ceiling design and shape; vaulted ceilings will have different opportunities than flat ones, for example.
We tried to cover the widest range possible of styles and configurations to show you the sheer breadth and scope of what can be accomplished when setting out to design a kitchen with skylights, and this gallery is the result. We hope you enjoy the wide selection as much as we do!
