Our plans set out every detail including materials needed and step-by-step instructions on how to build it.
1. Basic 2-Bench 6′ Long Rectangle Picnic Table Plan (PDF)
Our first free picnic table plan is your super basic, simple-to-build standard-issue picnic table. This is, by far, the most popular design. You see them everywhere including backyards, parks etc. Our plans set out a 6′ long picnic table using wood.
2. Round Picnic Table Plan (Free PDF Download)
If you like the round picnic table design, you’ll love this free plan. What I particularly like about this picnic table design is that there are gaps between the seats which makes it easy to sit down. Many round picnic tables have no gaps so it’s a bit clumsy to sit down.
3. Picnic Table with Detached Benches (PDF Plan)
This picnic table plan helps you build a rectangle picnic table with detached benches. I prefer the detached bench design because I tend to feel crammed into tables with attached benches. The downside to detached benches is they tip, especially roudy kids goofing around will tip those benches over in no time.
4. Solid-Bench Octagonal Picnic Table Plan (PDF)
This octagonal picnic table differs to #2 above in that the bench is sold, as in there are no gaps. I like the gaps myself but some might prefer a solid wrap-around bench.
5. Picnic Table with Cooler Space
This picnic table design isn’t for everyone but if you like the idea of a built-in cooler option then check it out. You can insert stainless steel tubs filled with ice to keep your drinks and/or condiments cool while outside.
I like the separate bench design as well. Definitely a winner. I suppose I’m biased since it’s my site but I like it nevertheless. You may also like: How to Build DIY Picnic Table!

Our 6th picnic table plan is a standard rectangle design with benches attached. Our PDF plan sets out materials needed and step by step instructions for creating it.
