Welcome to our gallery featuring the riveting Park Street project, a home designed by Architecton.
Completed in 2010, this thoroughly modern house features a rich array of materials and interconnected space.
The traditional makeup of the distinctly contemporary structure imbues the open plan architecture with a sense of timelessness.
The home is built in a beautiful neighborhood in Moonee Ponds, Victoria, Australia, wrapped in lush natural foliage. From the front, we see an unassuming space that’s beautiful without drawing undue attention.
The more traditionally styled front facade quickly gives way to an innovative, defiantly modern interior. This interior, coupled with a bold open plan design, spills onto a carefully crafted landscape in the back yard.
Inside the home, you’ll see a distinctive deep toned hardwood floor stretching across the entire space, connecting every room and offering startling contrast to the white walls.
The floor plan centers around a large open-plan space that includes a living room, formal dining, and kitchen area. From the front entry, this open space can be seen leading directly into the backyard.
The rear of the home is wrapped in full height windows and sliding glass doors, visually blurring the line between interior and outdoor space. This brightens and opens the interior in a way that artificial lighting never could.
Connected directly to the living room is a large sheltered patio area, entered via massive sliding glass door. This space functions as a bespoke outdoor kitchen plus living room, with a selection of contemporary rattan patio furniture for both dining and relaxing purposes.
The entire experience is a holistic journey through an open, interconnected space. We hope you feel as inspired as we do.
The public side of the home, viewed from the street, appears more traditionally styled than the interior. This unassuming atmosphere helps foster a sense of surprise and delight as we enter the home.
Here we are in the large open plan space, looking at the living room. A massive leather sectional defines the space, overlooked by a large window at left and artwork next to that. To the right, we can see down the main hall to the front entry.
Sleek dark wood panels color the left wall, matching the hardwood flooring in contrast with the white walls and ceiling. At the far end we can see the dining set wrapped by full height windows.
Here we are on the vast patio, looking into the home through the full height glass that surrounds it. The kitchen can be seen at right, a simple space defined by a large white island with dine-in seating. The sleek roof extends over nearly the entire patio for shelter from the elements.
The patio features bespoke modern rattan furniture for both relaxing and dining purposes, plus a lengthy marble countertop with kitchen functions at the far left. Across the walk, we can see the showcase garage with folding glass panel access.
Seen from the privacy of the expertly manicured back yard, the home is an open, ultra-modern space that appears welcoming and well-equipped, and entirely integrated within the landscape.
