This particular project is a large renovation and addition project in Alexandria, Virginia.
It began as a small 4 square bungalow and was renovated and expanded into a comfortable home for a growing young family with beautiful architectural details including exposed wood beams and a large wraparound porch.
We hope you enjoy the contemporary details of this home and come away with inspiration for your own home renovation.
The stone and wood front porch has two rocking chairs flanking the door. The mint-green exterior contrasts with the warm, bright wood front door.
The foyer opens into the living room with a view of the dining room. The living room is divided from the hallway by a series of columns. The tray ceiling of the hallway and the coffered ceiling of the living room further distinguishes the rooms from one another.
The contemporary kitchen is furnished with stainless steel appliances, white granite countertops, and rich dark wood cabinets. The smooth white countertops are interrupted only by a wooden butcher’s block on the right side.
Another view of the kitchen, showcasing the raised bar with seating for two, the warm hardwood floors and small rug in front of the sink. A ceiling fan helps keep the kitchen cool.
The stone and tile master bathroom has beautiful natural cherry cabinets and an unenclosed shower stall. Chrome fixtures and dual mirrors above the his-and-hers sinks complement the matching medicine cabinet.
A smaller half-bath on the main level hosts a small corner sink, rich red walls and tile. A colorful light fixture adds life.
A shot from the side of the home, featuring the gorgeous wraparound porch and providing a peek into the fenced-in backyard.
