Welcome to our gallery featuring the R House by Artigas Arquitectes.
Albert Artigas and Albert Ortiz are the primaryminds behind the architecture for this project.
With the help of Zania Design and Mar Requena designing the interior, they have created this impressive Barcelona home.
Thankfully, Isabel Casanova hasย captured it all in these photographs for us to enjoy. The contractor who made this all possible is Artigas-3 SL.
Propped up on a high hill in Barcelona, Spain, this modern style home has an astounding view of the surrounding city. The difficulty of building on this hilltop was a remarkableย feat of construction and design.
The overall design of the home is adaptive to its location. Rather than compressing everything down and following a monolithic theme, the architects have strategically designed the levels of the house to sit comfortably on the hillside.
This strategic design style not only makes this home an exotic structure in an unlikely setting, it gives the exterior a unique appearance.
The variation of materials used in the interior falls together to create a specific blend of concrete, natural stone, and large glass windows. The carefully placed materials are designed to come together and provide a high value living space.
The wooden and steel surfaces in the home also contribute to the classyย atmosphere. With large glass windows rounding a majority of the corners of the home, and located in almost every room, this house is truly luxurious.
Check out the rest of the images below and revel in the beauty of this wonderful Spanish home. Perhaps you’ll spot some design features that you’d like to incorporate into your own space!
This home exterior features a large grassy area, a wide hard wood deck, and a long pool running the length of the yard. Circular pillars hold up the foundation, while the lower level recesses inward, creating an overhang for the patio space.
This patio is partially shaded by overhanging rafters. The black outdoor furniture is accented by bright colored pillows and decorative vases centered on the coffee table.
This angle shows a view of the living room from just outside the patio entrance. The modern style furniture takes up a small space in the entirety of the room. Rich hardwood floors match the outdoor patio.
A closer angle of the living room reveals the stuffed sofa with vibrant accent pillows. There is an area rug before the sofa, providing a comfortable surface above the hardwood floor. The large floor to ceiling window rounds the corner of the house and provides impressive views.
From inside the living room, we get a pretty full view of the house. Thanks to the large floor to ceiling windows around most of the lower level, all rooms on this floorย are somewhat visible from any given angle.
Rounding the corner to the right from the living room, we enter into the kitchen. There is a large island with an eat in extension that expands into a full table.
From farther inside the kitchen, you get another idea of how open this house is and how each room is somewhat visible from any angle. This particular view shows the chrome surface on the kitchen island and exemplifies how the light shines in from outside and bounces around on the various surfaces.
A closer view of the island and dine-inย extension shows the different materials that exist in the kitchen. The floor consists of rich wood grain, the cabinetry a sleek white surface, while the top of the island transitions from a faded wood grain to a chrome surface.
The stair case of the home is consistent with the rest of the flooring. The actual steps are made of the same rich wood material, the railings and the frame are stainless steel metal.
In the upper level of the homeย contains this bedroom. The modest space is personable and accented by the deep purple lamp and bed covers. More windows round the corner in this room and provide a view of the surrounding landscape.
The bathroom is located right next to the bedroom. The large sinks and surplus of counter space allows for this space to accommodate a variety of different needs. The luxurious bath sits just below a large window.
This angle reveals the shower in the bathroom, located in the corner of the room and surrounded by glass walls. Notice the rich wood floors and the contrast from dark floors to light walls.
An offshoot from the bathroom leads into the closet space, which is not fully visible, but it is apparent that the closet is spacious and designed to accommodate the users with efficiency. The floor remains consistent with that of the bathroom while the shelving and drawers are a darker, sleek material.
