Working with Pink
When most people think of a pink bedroom they think about princesses and little girls. Using pink in the primary bedroom is rare, but it can be done with amazing results.
While we don’t recommend using a bold dark pink on every wall, having a soft pastel pink border stripe around the crown molding can really enhance the accents in the room.
Because of the lighter shade of pink, it plays well with much softer and brighter colors. Yellows and whites always work. You can even throw in a splash of red as a pillow cover or bedspread.
Lamp shades in pink can really draw the eye from the border stripe to the rest of the room. Having a complimentary color along the eye-line is crucial. Having pastel colors will really open up the design palette.
How to Accent With Pink
Because of the nature of pink, red and white will always be in the color palette. Using this to your full advantage can dramatically remove the feminine look and make a room bright and welcoming.
Pink runners on the dresser and a pink accent rug will bring the room a bright appeal without distracting the eye or the mood. Lamps on the nightstands and red and pink decorative pillows on the bed will make everything cozy and comfortable.
Design Styles Pink Works With
Pink works in a few design styles if done sparingly. As a primary bedroom, pink doesnโt blend with a lot of available accents. However, because there are so many shades of pink, using more than one will open some of the options.
Scandinavian, modern and traditional styles can generally utilize pink as a primary color. However, you shouldnโt let this stop you. Just because it isnโt done often doesnโt mean you canโt make it work.
Themes work best with pink as an accent color instead of a primary color. With a little planning though, you can use pink to its full potential.
