Along with our comprehensive gallery featuring selections across Drury Design’s line of kitchen designs, we want to share some of the individual examples. Today we present the award winning Glen Ellyn transitional kitchen.
In any remodeling project, there is at least one challenging aspect for designers and homeowners to deal with. This project had oak flooring and casings that could not be avoided. It was a traditional style kitchen with an inconveniently placed oven hood that closed off the room. Thankfully, the hood could be moved, but the oak flooring had to stay.
The first challenge to be dealt with was the flooring. Drury decided to contrast the light toned oak with beautiful dark colored Grabill custom cabinetry, stained with an Abby brown finish. This espresso color was used throughout the kitchen, from floor to ceiling cabinets to the adjacent wet bar.
To break up the dark cabinetry, high-gloss soft green accent cabinets were placed in the kitchen and on the island.
Other notable focal points of the award winning transitional kitchen design include the custom designed hood, a backsplash cut from a single slab of marble, and the use of custom pewter corbels, legs, and inserts throughout the kitchen and wet bar.
L-shaped island with marble top, matching the countertops and backsplash throughout the kitchen, stands with ample cabinetry, shelving, and dining space.
The dark espresso finished wood features throughout the wet bar and upper, glass-panel cabinetry. An array of dark wood seating stands before the single column dividing the space.
The island features pewter accent strips on the corners, over its high-gloss soft green finish.
Espresso finish on the island is complimented by the pewter corbels.
