Welcome to our gallery highlighting the dazzling interior design of the Mid Century Condo, a home design by +Modern Design.
This home, situated in Kansas City, Missouri, was blessed with a large, open space for the designers to craft in. The theme, as indicated by the project name, centers on the midcentury modern design that became prevalent in the 1950s, emphasizing space, form, and an openness that allows the home to breathe in the outdoors.
The home sports a vast open-plan central area, containing living, dining, and kitchen functions in a seamless blend. With highly textured walls and a soaring ceiling in white, the rich hardwood flooring both complements and offers contrast to the design.
Several important details stand out, including the geometric latticework on the fireplace wall, reserved use of exposed red brick, and the sleekly minimalist furniture, including Bentwood chairs. The furniture itself complements and amplifies the midcentury modern design, with clean lines and contemporary construction across the board.
The stylistic aim for this project held an emphasis on the mixture of new and retro elements, and the finished home bears the idea out. From the sleek wood-wrapped fireplace to the bold granite-topped kitchen island, this contrasting blend makes for an utterly timeless interior.
In the cozy fireplace corner, we see the rich wood mantle contrasting with the geometric lattice wall, over bright hardwood flooring. Cream drapes add contrast with the dark walls, over a low bench sofa with yellow cushion.
Before the low-slung contemporary grey sofa, we see this glass-topped metal coffee table. The immense windows in the background allow sunlight to pour in throughout the open-plan space.
Moving further back, we see the bespoke kitchen island at the center of the space, standing beneath an ultra-modern hood vent with glass shield. Dark granite countertops and dark wood cabinetry make for an interesting contrast in the bright space.
Near the windows, we see the boldย glass and metal dining table, surrounded by Bentwood chairs in sleek natural wood tones. This space is defined by a checkered area rug below and tufted red paper chandelier above.
The cream toned drapes and immense windows grant a brightness to the space that allows the dark painted walls to contrast, without darkening the space. A small retro chrome drink stand is placed at right, below wall mounted artwork.
With sunlight pouring through the glass table, the sleekly modern wooden chairs glow in contrast over the dark rug. The elegant mixture of grey and bright natural tones serves to highlight the mixture of modern and retro touches throughout this home.
