If you’re looking for seclusion amongst nature and surrounded by mountains, you should take a peek at Robinson Bar Ranch. This ranch has been home to Grammy Award-winning American singer and songwriter Carole King for over 30 years.

King originally purchased the home, which pre-dates back to the 1870s, in the 1980s. She spent over 20 years restoring and remodeling the ranch, which features a main lodge, 8 guest log cabins, a caretakers house, and a free-standing recording studio with a guest apartment above it.

Robinson Bar Ranch sits on 128 acres in Stanley, Idaho, and is surrounded by the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The 2-story lodge is 7,335 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It has two stone fireplaces, a commercial kitchen, den, living room, and uses geothermal heat. The home boasts many wooden and stone features that make it blend in naturally with the beautiful backdrop of mountains, rivers, and forests.

If you’re looking for a relaxing dip, there are thermal pools, a small one for soaking, and a larger one for swimming. An indoor changing area and shower can be found in a cave-like bathhouse that has been built into the side of a mountain. The pools and bathhouses are heated by the ranch’s hot water springs that allow you to use this area year-round. The springs also produce heat for the lodge and studio, making it a great energy saver. Due to this, the ranch comes with mineral and water rights.

Along with the other buildings on the ranch, like the 1825 square foot caretakers home and the 2045 square foot owners home overlooking Warm Springs Creek, there is a new horse stable with six stalls with frost-free water for the livestock. Nearby are several farm buildings that have been used for equipment storage. Other storage can be found in the 8 cabins that are mainly used for summer guests.

This property is very unique and seems to be more of a resort than a home. However, it is a perfect place to be one with nature, get some song-writing done, and find peace due to its remoteness from the rest of the world. You can also enjoy activities such as fishing, white-water rafting, and hiking by just stepping outside your front doors. What’s not to love about that?

King began her career in 1958 at the age of 16. She has written hits for a range of performers that include Bobby Vee, Aretha Franklin, Tony Orlando, and The Drifters. She had a mega-hit album titled “Tapestry” in 1971 that sold over 25 million copies and won a Grammy for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

She has also written songs for many movies and television shows, like the theme song for the hit show Gilmore Girls, which she appeared as Sophie Bloom, the music store owner. She recently went on tour with James Taylor and has a musical on Broadway called “Beautiful” which is about her life. Her secluded ranch home sold for $9.9 million.
