This magnificent gallery highlights the opulent Blue Jay Way home, a grand creation by McClean Design.
Seated on a spectacular lot above Sunset Strip with a panoramic vista over Los Angeles all the way to the Pacific ocean, this house is designed to maximize the view from all major interior spaces.
With almost 7000 square feet, the large home is bisected by a water feature and pool, the central design element of the project.
Beginning near the driveway as a water wall, around which the entry space is wrapped, the water element becomes an ornamental pool before dropping into the spa below. This continues as a 75 foot lap pool, ending just in line with the expansive view.
The entry to the house features a glass bridge over the pool.
The master bedroom and study are located on one side of the pool, while the main living areas stand on the other. Lower level contains several guest rooms, a media room, and a four car garage. The mixture of materials creating this soft contemporary look include extensive use of concrete, wood, and stone.
Here we have the beginning of the water element featuring a floating open fireplace design, with full height glass allowing for views into a living room at left and connecting room at center.
Upper level sheltered patio space showcases the incredible Los Angeles vistas afforded by this home design. Minimalist decor mixes with an artful open fireplace at right, surrounded by a low glass wall.
Edging closer to the low glass wall, we see the houses below and the city in the distance. Metal pillars support the overhead structure, imbued with subtle embedded lighting.
From the single room bridging the water element, we see through full height glass the full outer structure of the home. Minimalist design mixes soft contemporary elements with sharp angles and glass throughout, while the patio and pool are seen below.
This living room stands white contemporary seating over dark stained hardwood flooring, in front of a massive grey stone fireplace. Floor to ceiling glass all around provides spectacular views.
The elegant, modern, open design kitchen features a massive white topped island, sleek dark grey cabinetry, and crystalline pillar chandeliers overhead.
Seen in daylight, the kitchen holds the white and grey cabinetry over rich dark stained hardwood flooring, with natural light cascading through upper wall windows at left.
Dining room is surrounded by fogged glass panels for privacy, with a minimalist white slab table and brown chairs over brown area rug at center. Large cubic chandelier hangs overhead, while fractured portrait art piece hangs over cabinetry at left.
Master bedroom continues the dark hardwood flooring, with retractible glass panels opening to blend the room seamlessly with patio space at right.
Looking the other direction, we see the platform bed stands next to a natural wood bench, with the open patio and second half of the home beyond.
Master bath features an expanse of white tile and glass, with large open floor plan holding a glass shower enclosure and free standing soaking tub. Broad views over the city are included in this room, as in every other major living space in the home.
Massive walk in closet includes floor to ceiling shelving, subtly embedded ceiling lighting, and a large white leather bench at center.
Secondary bedroom hosts a mixture of tile and hardwood flooring, surrounding the platform bed and pair of dark wood dressers. Full height glass and patio access is appears here as well.
The entry side of the home features this lush corner office, with full view of the water element through full height glass. Minimalist white desk with natural wood drawers stands along with a pair of circular leather chairs at center.
At the end of the pool, we have a raised jacuzzi space with rich wood platform surrounding.
