Welcome to ourย gallery featuring images of the timeless, modern Sprecher Home, a creation by SAOTA (Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects)ย located in Cape Town, South Africa.
The main aim with this design, as put forth by the well-traveled owner,ย wasย for the house to beย inspired by its indigenous surroundings, residing inย the recently established Sea Farm Private Nature Reserve.
The family had this home crafted as a modern, low-maintenance weekend retreat, in order to take advantage of the gorgeous countryside and ocean views.
The open, minimalist design allows each bedroom to flow into the central living space, while mostly transparent exterior walls afford panoramic views from anywhere inside.ย Located on theย rocky Cape coastal peninsula, the home is perched above a strikingย seascape with expansiveย vistasย of the surrounding Hangklip Mountain.
A short walk from the front door through the interior will leave you standing at the rocky shoreline in seconds.
The central, open space flows directly into this sheltered seaside patio through floor to ceiling sliding glass.ย Set of adirondack chairs and full dining space in distance provide ample seating next to the ocean.
Here’s a direct view of the central living space, replete with dark wood furniture with soft white cushioning beneath vaulted ceiling with exposed wood beams. All-glass exterior wall open to wraparound patio.
Here’s an angled view of the living room, revealing the red tones of the modernist framed twin sofas and entertainment table, large patterned area rug over light natural hardwood flooring, and white stone walls throughout.
Front half of the large central area holds this intimate relaxation space centered around an open fireplace design. Grey sectional and area rug stand over textured marble flooring, with hallways to bedrooms flanking each side.
Close view of the fireplace. Open design allows fire to sit on built-in shelf, with hidden chimney behind white detail wall extension.
Here we have a corner of the living room, flowing outward through the sliding glass onto the wraparound patio behind this pale chaise lounge. Bedroom with set of its own glass doors appears in background with separate patio segment.
The thoroughly modern kitchen appears in timeless, traditional materials: natural wood stools at the large, marble topped island, sitting beneath hanging wooden shelving piece, suspended from exposed ceiling beams. Natural wood dining table appears in foreground.
The main kitchen counter features dark marble over darkย wood cabinetry, with built-in shelving above tile backsplash, including wine rack at top.
Bedroom featuring unique fox skin duvet, with semicircular leather couch in background wall cove.
Corner bathroom affords spectacular view of the ocean from the sunken bathtub. Patio extension and outdoor shower seen through the floor to ceiling glass.
