The name, Nude Landing, represents the simplicity of overall design — laying bare the beauty of the wood grain for all to see and enjoy while the piece itself acts as a ‘landing’ zone for bags, coats, etc.
Traditionally coat racks are heavy, unwieldy things that you cover up to avoid looking at.
Designers Wenjiao Shen and Ruiqiong Huang from Soso Studio wanted to change this with a design that was both clean looking as well as visually engaging and pleasing to the eye.
The illusion of the wood twisting around each other achieves just that and creates a piece that draws the eye but is not obtrusive to the rest of the room.
They wanted to create an environmentally friendly furniture piece and while this design is simple enough to create in a variety of materials, simple wooden posts were the way to go in achieving this worthy goal.
Two different finishes are available, though on the designers site you can view some of the limited editions that they created for people who backed their project.

It weights in at only 11 pounds (5kg) with a nearly 6 foot (174cm) height and a base width of 1.4 feet (44cm). It is slim enough to not take up too much space, but its simple beauty commands the attention of everyone.

The hanger comes in two different finishes. Manchurian Ash is very hardy and has a beautiful finish with a nice wood grain through it. Manchurian ash is commonly used in furniture making for just these reasons.
Alternatively, the Germany Beech has a gorgeous pinkish-red color to it and a satin smooth finish. It remains a strong, sturdy wood — perfect for a simple design like this.
Even in a modern-industrial design like this one, the Nude Landing coat rack finds itself perfectly at home against the cold concrete wall and accents. It has a gorgeous finish that shows off the natural wood grain in each piece.
