I think anyone renovating or planning a kitchen these days should seriously consider a double wall oven.
Benefits of a double wall oven
- Cook/bake more at one time.
- Cook/bake items at different temperatures.
- Use one as a warmer while other food is cooking/baking.
- Wall ovens are elevated compared to traditional ovens so it’s easier to access.
- You can have one conventional oven and one convection oven. Convection ovens are terrific for baking.
- They don’t take up much space so it’s not an imposition at all.
The only downside with a wall oven of any kind is you need to take up additional space with a stove. Our current home has a double wall oven. One is a convection oven and one is a traditional oven.
We love having the two ovens for all of the reasons set out above.

Double Oven Kitchen Location
As you’ll see in our photo gallery of kitchen designs with double wall ovens below, there isn’t one rule for double wall oven location within the kitchen. Instead, double wall oven location should follow the traditional rule for appliance location in a kitchen, which is within a work zone, often a triangle from sink to oven/stove to refrigerator. Therefore, if you have an island, if you can, place those three items in close proximity to one another to minimize steps.
Creating an efficient kitchen when there isn’t an island is pretty easy. While kitchen islands are fabulous, they can create an efficiency obstacle within the kitchen if not planned out well. Nevertheless, in my view an island is well worth any inefficiency it creates because the additional workspace and storage is fantastic.
At the end of the day, regardless where you place your oven, seriously consider installing a double wall oven. We have this and it’s a terrific feature for not a huge cost in relation to the cost of a new kitchen. Example of a double wall oven.
