This unique home design by Hughes Umbanhowar Architects provides a spacious living area that blends the beauty and benefits of the outdoors within the breathtaking floorplan by incorporating an outdoor courtyard with a series of buildings that are tied together with a roof system.
Letโs Take the Tour
The outward appearance of this home is warm and subtle. The high exterior walls that tastefully surround the interior give the home a modest atmosphere as it quietly encompasses the many spectacularly beautiful views inside. At 8,500 square feet, this home boasts a formal podium on which the house rests and a broken second-floor structure that partial spans the courtyard.
Enter the home, and youโll find yourself in the first building where the open design allows the living room and dining room to flow seamlessly into a spacious Boffi kitchen, providing a wonderful gathering space for large family groups. This building also houses a quaint powder room as well as a discreet mechanical and storage room.
The kitchen opens onto the outdoor dining room that offers a spectacular view of the courtyard and pool. Just off the outdoor dining room is the haven of the large primary suite complete with an equally large bathroom and dressing area.
The upstairs bedrooms provide the roof and shade for the outdoor dining room. A second stairway between these bedrooms leads to a private patio on the roof.
Directly across from the primary suite are two bedrooms with on-suite bathrooms and an ample storage room. A third bedroom, also with an on-suite bath, is separated from the others by an outdoor lounge and from the fifth building by an outdoor hallway that leads to the outdoor living room. Spanning the outdoor lounge and creating its roof is the gym that bestows a beautifully unobstructed view.
The bedrooms are provided privacy by the design which has the roomsโ access points on the opposite side of the structure. These open to an outdoor hall that connects the outdoor lounge and access to the large attached storage area and stairs leading to the gym.
This hallway also leads to the fifth and final building that comprises the first floor that houses the maidโs room, laundry room, pantry, small mechanical room, and a large media room with an attached office.
The attached four-car garage assists in concealing the personal sanctuary behind it by giving the outward appearance of being a simple, detached garage. Between the garage and the first building is a magnificent outdoor living room that provides a splendid view of the pool and courtyard.
More Than Just a Pretty Face
The unique design is the result of two somewhat basic designs being combined and reimagined. Just a glimpse at the plans for the Beach Road 6 design and thereโs no doubt of the amount of thought and care the designers have poured into the finished product.
From noise reduction to optimal wind and sun exposure, the goal of creating and preserving the peacefulness of the sanctuary within has been achieved.
