The 1,578-square-foot Runnymeade cottage houses three bedrooms and two well-appointed bathrooms, providing an ideal space for both family living and entertaining.
The Runnymeade Cottage proudly shows off its traditional American style with French country influences

You can’t mistake the traditional American style with French Country influences here. The Runnymeade’s exterior features a combination of brick and stone veneer. The asymmetrical facade includes multiple gables, arched entryways, and a prominent cupola atop the roof.
Main floor level plan

You can see that the main floor includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a great room with a fireplace, a kitchen with a breakfast area, and a separate dining room. Additional spaces include a utility room, a two-car garage, and outdoor areas consisting of a porch and patio.

Bonus level floor plan

There’s a bonus room above the Runnymeade’s main level that opens up a world of possibilities. It can be turned into a home office, a guest room, or even a home gym. The layout includes a small landing at the top of the stairs before entering the spacious bonus room.
Alternative floor plan featuring basement access

Here’s an alternative layout for the main level floor plan with basement access. The stairs going down to the basement are just to the right of the utility room.

Expansive backyard view focusing on the brick and stone facade

From the backyard, you can see the home’s expansive and well-manicured lawn, perfect for outdoor activities. The back of the house features a blend of brick and stone facades with a large covered porch, complete with wooden railings. Tall windows and open spaces allow for plenty of natural light to filter through.
Welcoming outdoor porch with fireplace and ceiling fan .. the walls could use different colors

The covered porch features a brick wall and a stone fireplace as its focal point. Wicker furniture with plush cushions surrounds a glass-top table, creating an inviting space for relaxation. The first thing I’d change here are the wallsโI’d go for neutral colors to tone down the visual noise.
Grand entryway with wooden double doors .. a guaranteed warm first impression

A pair of wooden double doors framed by an arched transom window form the Runnymeade’s entrance. The space is lined with a decorative rug and leads directly into a bright living area. Coffered ceilings and ample natural light highlight the design.
Arched hallway entrance featuring eye-catching pendant lighting

From the inside of the entryway, you can use the arched hallway illuminated by a wrought iron pendant light, capped by intricate moldings on the ceiling arches.
Living room with coffered ceiling and built-in shelves

The living room has a coffered ceiling and built-in shelves surrounding a large fireplace. Comfortable seating is arranged to promote conversation and relaxation, facing a flat-screen TV. I’m not a fan of the tan walls, but at least it’s an easy fix.
Another view of the living room showing the glass doors leading outside .. see how stylish the coffered ceiling looks

Here’s a different view of the living room that shows the glass doors leading outside. You can also see the high chairs facing the kitchen.
Runnymeade’s kitchen has double islands, granite countertops, and top-of-the-line modern appliances

In the kitchen, you can see double islands, both topped with granite countertops. Cream-colored cabinets with intricate detailing surround the dark-stained island. A renovation would change this kitchen into a masterpieceโimagine how it’d look with modern cabinetry and white walls.
Intimate dining room to the kitchen’s side .. the red walls aren’t for me, but I can work with the refined white wainscoting

I’d do without the bold red walls of this dining room, but I love the traditional wooden dining table and its chairs. With new walls and a newly renovated window, this room would effortlessly be the most inviting in the cottage.
Master bedroom with vaulted ceilings .. the furniture is outdated, but it goes well with the room’s aesthetic

The master bedroom features a dramatic vaulted ceiling, accented by white beams and a chandelier. A wooden bed frame and matching nightstands complement the soft, neutral tones of the room. The furniture may be a bit dated for my taste, but I like how it matches the room’s aesthetic.
A closer look at the bed and the artistic decor around it

Artistic decor pieces are situated around the wooden headboard of the master room’s bed. The bedside lamps create a clean, minimal aesthetic that contributes to a restful environment.
Blandly designed bathroom with stained glass window and dual sinks

In the bathroom, black granite countertops and dual sinks sit atop white cabinetry. I’m honestly not a fan of this one. The beige walls combined with the cream cabinetry lack contrast, giving the space a bland, monotonous appearance. The bathroom could benefit from bolder design choices, such as updated fixtures, a more vibrant color palette, or the addition of textures to bring more life into the space. A round of renovation should be enough to turn this room around.
Extra bedroom with tray ceiling and tropical-themed fan

The tray ceiling in this bedroom draws the eye upwards, complemented by a tropical-themed ceiling fan. Floor-to-ceiling patterned curtains frame the large window. The overall design, with its light tones and traditional furnishings, creates a welcoming atmosphere.
Spacious loft area with comfortable seating and abundant natural light

Featuring multiple seating options including upholstered chairs and sofas, the spacious loft area is designed with comfort in mind. Angled, eclectic ceiling lines add character to the space, and natural light streams in through the windows.
