Our San Carlos project was a total whole home remodel. We removed all the old flooring, cabinets, baseboards, moved and reconfigured walls, and added square footage. This was a pretty large total gut and redo. The whole house was a maze, feeling so closed in, so our job was to make the home more open, updated and inviting.
We replaced the old, outdated flooring with beautiful wood looking porcelain tile that went throughout the entire home. White shaker cabinetry on the kitchen perimeter with a maple stained island, granite countertops, and white glossy subway tile with a stainless steel accent mosaic tile for the backsplash.
We completely refaced and rebuilt the fireplace with porcelain tile and a wood stained mantle to match the new contemporary style in the home. As you go down the hallway, we made an old closet into an open niche with floating shelves and lighting to showcase any art or accessories on the shelves. Right off the hallway, into the powder bathroom, we wanted to do something special and unique.
We did a floating vanity that matches the kitchen island stained cabinets, quartz countertops, and floating shelves in the niche to the left of the vanity. In the guest bathroom, we used the same stained cabinets with quartz countertops and modern pulls. For the guest bathrooms shower, our client wanted to do something different for the shower tile, so we alternated glossy and matte grey subway tile columns with a pretty accent tile to add some color and decoration.
In the primary bathroom, we have the same stained cabinetry with quartz countertops, modern pulls, modern hardware, and modern fixtures to create that contemporary look. The primary shower is built for two with neutral shower wall tiles, an accent mosaic strip, and modern plumbing fixtures. Right in the primary bedroom is a sunroom that opens up to an outdoor atrium.
We updated the atrium with travertine flooring and a stacked stone accent wall to really finish off space and make every room inviting and special. Then, in the hallway across the primary bedroom, is the laundry room area which has a stacked washer and dryer unit, white shaker cabinets with tall linen for more storage, and granite counters.
This project was a large one, which took about 3 months to complete, and turned into a beautiful contemporary home that will stand the test of time.
