Interior Designer: Ami McKay – Pure Design
Ami McKay, Principal of Pure Design believes the foundation of great design is found in the art of giving. Giving of oneself to the process of creating a home that her clients can live their best lives. The work of her award winning design team has been recognized internationally for their design of mid to high end interiors.
Park Place owners approached PURE needing a fresh design plan for their new build. Inspired by Ami’s time living in London the resulting design successfully brings togetherelements of the old and new world. Within the kitchen alone, notable elements include European bistro tiles, an arched vent hood, apron-front kitchen sink and a saturated color palette, all balanced with white oak millwork. Innovative storage solutions were needed for this small space; to the right of the fridge a millwork panel doubles as a hidden door to a walk-in pantry, the arched vent hood includes handy shelves tucked away on each side. Including floor to ceiling cabinetry ensured that this beautiful spaceremains clutter-free.
These influences carry on throughout the home, translating into thoughtful touches with gentle arches, welcoming dark green millwork, patterned tile, and a clawfoot bathtub in the primary bathroom. Several rooms feature vintage and reclaimed pieces; a refinished bathtub from the original property, reclaimed doors on the second floor, bathroom vanities made from vintage dressers, and a dining room cabinet purchased second hand, all perfectly complimentary right down to the herringbone floor.
This home showcases a fun, colourful space that oozes personality.
