Soaking tubs are deeper than standard bathtubs, allowing for greater immersion and comfort than is possible with a traditional bathtub. These bathtubs come in a range of appearance and capabilities.
The depth of a soaking tub allows a bather to be immersed in water up to the neck while sitting upright, granting that serene comfort and relaxation a standard, shallow tub cannot provide.
Soaking tubs come in several different varieties. These include garden tubs, which may be found in a sunroom with a garden view; Roman tubs, which are fitted onto a deck and that people lower themselves into; and Japanese tubs, which are the deepest tubs and have room for a person to soak her entire body.
Of the various types of bathtub enclosure, the ones featured today typically fit into an alcove or drop-in enclosure, with three walls surrounding the tub itself. This allows the soaking tub to take up as little floor space as possible while remaining comfortably sized.
