The project is a reinterpretation of the classic Greek and Roman model of the house with two courtyards, one for entrance and the other central, collecting the rain waters, letting light and ventilation reach the open ground floor, of living and kitchen.
North of St. Michael, in a triangle form, with views over the entire north coast and ocean, as well as the mountain and volcano of Sete-Cidades to the south.
The home has two levels and is situated in the middle of this triangle plot. The rooms and bathroom are on the first level. The kitchen is housed inside a large light chimney volume that evokes the iconic Azorean architecture’s towering stone chimneys, and it’s accompanied by a typical external oven that embraces the wood volumes for the rooms and view lines upstairs.
