The project is located on a plot of 600 m2 in, an old neighborhood in the eastern area of Santiago. The commission was to design a house for a couple who no longer lives with their children, A house with few enclosures, but with a lot of amplitude and communicated spaces, a practical house easy to live and maintain, with the ability to receive many guests when necessary. The program is developed on two levels.
The first floor containing all the common spaces, prioritizing transparency towards the garden and terraces, generating patios that integrate the exterior with the interior. The kitchen is considered as a very important enclosure within the house, apart from achieving its functional requirements it is a meeting space, this is because of its dimensions, the materials used, and the great view of a large interior patio, plus a large window with a view to the front garden.
This level contains large sliding doors that link or separate the spaces according to the need. On the second level, there is a large master bedroom plus a guest bedroom and a living room, this is a more of a private level, it has a very functional distribution and seeks to have a good sunlight, orienting the bedrooms to the north and east.
The house prioritizes the use of three materials, concrete, wood (thermo-treated), and glass. The house is completely made of reinforced concrete, leaving many concrete walls in sight, this is complemented by wood in wall coverings and exterior ceilings.
