Designing the home of a brand new bachelor presented a unique set of challenges for Lori Dennis and her team. The client, a highly successful finance professional, was in the midst of a difficult divorce and struggling to find balance in various aspects of his life. The multi-million dollar home offered an opportunity to not only create a stunning living space but also to support the client in regaining equilibrium and finding a fresh start. Through a combination of strategic design choices and a focus on wellness, relationships, and personal growth, Dennis aimed to create a harmonious environment that would help the client rebuild and thrive.
Understanding that the areas of health, spirituality, relationships, and finances deeply impact our personal lives, the design team approached the project with a holistic perspective. They recognized that focusing on one area at the expense of others can lead to imbalance and discontent. With this in mind, they sought to create a home that would address each quadrant and nurture the client’s overall well-being.
Recognizing the client’s passion for health and wellness, the team prioritized the design of a home gym where he could focus on his physical well-being. By providing him with a space that supports his fitness goals, they encouraged him to spend more time at home and connect with his own well-being. Additionally, they incorporated dedicated spaces for meditation and relaxation, such as a meditative area off the master suite and a sauna, promoting mental and spiritual rejuvenation.
Understanding the importance of fostering meaningful connections, especially with his children, the team focused on designing communal areas that would facilitate quality time together. An open and airy floor plan allowed for seamless movement between spaces, encouraging interaction and shared experiences. The game room, kids’ room, and kitchen were designed to be welcoming and functional, providing spaces for family activities and bonding. Simultaneously, the living space was carefully crafted to accommodate adult entertainment, allowing the client to strike a balance between his parental responsibilities and personal desires.
Recognizing the significance of personal growth for both the client and his children, the design team crafted bedrooms and a game room that provided ample space for individual development. These areas were designed to reflect the children’s unique personalities and allow them the freedom to explore and grow in their own ways. By creating environments that support personal growth, the team aimed to nurture a sense of independence and confidence in the client’s children.
