The Bel Air, a magnificent mansion in the prestigious Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles, underwent a remarkable transformation under the expert guidance of renowned interior designer Lori Dennis. With a deep understanding of her clients’ desires and an unwavering commitment to exceptional design, Dennis created a space that seamlessly combines the timeless charm of a California ranch-style home with the sophisticated elegance of an international fashionista.
Upon first encountering the Bel Air Road mansion, Dennis recognized its inherent potential. The house boasted an alluring indoor-outdoor vibe, with natural wood and stone elements, reminiscent of the renowned designer Michael Taylor’s style. To accentuate this aspect and fulfill the client’s wish for a light and bright ambiance, the design team embarked on a journey to infuse the residence with luminosity.
The transformation began in the entryway, where the team employed a liberal coat of white paint, allowing the rustic woods and natural stones to shine. The white walls and wide plank French Oak flooring from Diamond W became the defining elements of the Cool California Ranch aesthetic, setting the stage for the entire home. To enhance the luminous atmosphere further, attention was given to lighting fixtures. The Possini Euro pendants in brushed nickel along the stairs and Pax sconces lining the hallway from the Lamps Plus Possini collection added a touch of contemporary elegance to the entryway.
In the pursuit of creating the ultimate chef’s kitchen, no expense was spared. The modern kitchen features top-of-the-line stainless steel Sub Zero and Viking appliances from Ferguson, transforming the space into a culinary haven. To imbue the kitchen with a touch of glamorous style, the Crystal Clear Island Pendant from Lamps Plus was chosen, elevating the aesthetic appeal of the room.
Preserving the existing marble in the master bathroom presented a unique challenge. The team’s objective was to integrate a new, larger bathtub while ensuring it harmonized seamlessly with the original marble. Although an exact match was unattainable, the designers skillfully selected a complementary marble to create a visually cohesive space. The master bathroom, with its refined marble accents and upgraded faucets, stands as a testament to the team’s meticulous attention to detail.
The client, an international fashionista, had an extensive collection of designer shoes and clothing that required adequate storage. The designers innovatively expanded the closet space, turning the hallway into an artful installation. Glass shelving was added to showcase the exquisite shoe collection, combining practicality with aesthetic appeal.
Throughout the Bel Air mansion, lighting played a pivotal role in achieving the desired balance between relaxed ranch-style living and sophisticated fashion-forward sensibilities. The designers strategically incorporated various lighting styles and mixed metals, adding a touch of glamour to the comfortable ambiance. Lamps Plus, with its diverse range of lighting options, proved to be an invaluable resource in fulfilling the client’s vision.
