Studio: Varda Studio
Project Name: Alezone Residence
Date of Completion: 2018
Built Area: 390 sqm
Project Location: Peyia, Paphos, Cyprus
Photographer: Creative Photo Room
The project is located in Peyia, just 700 metres away from the coast. It sits 47 metres above sea level, offering mesmerising views of the sea. The house combines its minimal structure with wide open spaces and large openings. The living space is in the centre of the house, occupying a large double height area with large windows to the front and back, allowing the users to enjoy views of the coast and garden.
The double height void is accented with special light fixtures on its vertical surfaces. There are awnings on the first floor that shade all windows to the first floor and at ground level below. They also create a covered veranda on the deck, as it stretches along the south-western elevation between the house and the 25-metre-long infinity pool.
The residenceโs layout has a long and narrow configuration, which allows all first floor bedrooms as well as the entire ground floor to face the coast to the south west. The deck and swimming pool also follow this configuration, running parallel to the house. The reinforced concrete structure creates large spans to enable wide open spaces and openings.
The building is thermally insulated externally, combined with a high-performance aluminium system, contributing to a better internal temperature and minimizing the need for heating and cooling. The active systems and lights are controlled by a smart system which, when combined with the high efficiency lights and devices and a 5kw Photovoltaic array, provide considerable energy savings and reduce the villaโs environmental impact.
