Walt Disney is one of the most iconic creators in history and the founder of Disney. His imagination and creativity are still felt today through many classic movies and both Disneyworld and Disneyland theme parks. Now, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom mansion he designed in Los Angeles, California is up for rent with a jaw-dropping price of $40,000 per month.

Disney lived in the 47,295-square-foot home from 1932 to 1950, and the property is currently owned by Timur Bekmambetov, a filmmaker. This elegant property is filled with fantasy-themed details and features a European countryside-inspired design.

The property is located in Los Feliz, an LA neighborhood nestled in the hills. It’s conveniently located near Hollywood and Griffith Park. When Walt Disney purchased the 1.09 acres of land that the property now sits on, he did so with the proceeds from his Mickey Mouse and Silly Symphony films. At the time, he lived there with his wife Lillian, and they raised their two daughters in the home. This is the house where Walt dreamed up many of his most famous movies, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Cinderella, and Pinocchio.

When those famous films were released, Walt spent time in the original home theater opposite the home’s living room watching the news and reviews of his movies. Today, the same space is updated with modern technology and is still a major feature of the house. This legendary home sits on a gated driveway with parking for 10 vehicles. Upon entering the home, you’re welcomed by a rotunda entryway with hardwood floors and a two-story living room accented with vaulted wood-beamed ceilings and wood-paneled walls. An impressive candle chandelier inspires true Beauty and the Beast vibes.

A large brick fireplace and the original leaded windows offer views of the lush backyard, swimming pool, and the sights of downtown Los Angeles. One wing of the home leads to the elegant dining room with French doors that open to the outside. Intricately painted murals on the ceilings add a fantastic touch to this space. A large eat-in kitchen with a center island and stainless steel appliances is complemented by luxurious marble countertops, custom cabinetry, stained glass windows, and a walk-in pantry.

A chic powder room completes this wing of the home, and a large primary bedroom is featured upstairs above the theater. This bedroom offers city views, plenty of closet space, and a luscious bathroom with dual vanities, a large dual-head shower, period tile, and an elegant centerpiece tub. The other wing offers two more large guest bedrooms with an impressive bathroom linking them together. There is also a spacious family room upstairs highlighted by vaulted ceilings. The family room has access to a former sleeping porch, which would make an excellent gym or home office for the new renter.

When you reach the outdoor grounds, you’re greeted by a gorgeously landscaped walkway, a lush grass lawn, and a crystal blue swimming pool. A trellis covers the outdoor dining area, while another section of the one-acre grounds serves as a private park. This impressive mansion was designed by Walt Disney himself with help from renowned architect Frank Crowhurst. The French Provincial and Country Tudor design makes this home feel cozy yet elegant and well-appointed all at once in a tranquil space nestled among the LA hillside.
