The penthouse began its life as 3 separate penthouses purchased from Ritz Carlton Residences in Federal Hill. He purchased the property in 2009 for $12.5 million. He spent another $2-3 million and two years converting the penthouses into one spectacular single unit. It was an ambitious project, but well worth the effort.
The unit was originally listed in 2015 at $12 million by Clancy’s widow. It was eventually lowered to $5.9 million when listed with Angel Stevens of Cummings & Co. Realtors. With no buyer in sight, the family decided to put it up for auction with no reserve. It sold to an unnamed buyer for an undisclosed amount, an ending worthy of the twists and turns of a Clancy thriller.
