If you work from home, you know how important it is to have a beautiful, dedicated space where you can concentrate and feel at ease. One TikTok creator named thehadylife shows us how she took an old office in her home and gave it a complete makeover.
She said that her sister moved out, so her husband took over her room to use as his office. This left the other office area available for her to use, but it definitely needed quite a bit of TLC.

Steps in this project
She started by painting over the gray walls using a brighter white color. She mentioned that a lot of viewers loved the gray color, but in person, it was way too dark. The room is located in the basement, which means that there were no windows and the dark gray would just make the space much too dark and closed-in.
She primed all of the walls first and then painted them white, with the exception of one wall that she wanted to use as an accent wall. For this wall, she added some wood trim molding to create added depth and texture. Once the trim was nailed on, she painted the feature wall in a color called Midnight in New York by Behr, which is a gorgeous deep, dark blue-green color.
After all of the walls were painted, she assembled some beautiful drawers from Ikea to give her new office some additional storage. She also added doors to the bottom two layers so that she could hide mess and clutter while keeping everything looking neat.
I noticed that she also added what looked like some small strips of brown wood to the doors to give them a bit of character. The top row remained open so she could “display all of the nice stuff.”
Next, the video shows her mounting two stunning muted gold-finished wall sconces. These sconces look absolutely stunning against the dark color of the feature wall. Not only do these add some extra style, but they’re also a great way to get just a little bit of extra lighting in a darker room.
These sconces were not hard-wired, so they were easy to install, and they were topped with a simple, beautiful white shade. She used a rechargeable LED bulb with a remote control to adjust the lighting from anywhere in the room. She also mentioned that the sconces were her favorite addition to the room.
After the lighting was added, she installed a picture ledge frame on the wall above the IKEA shelves. She used them to display her beautiful henna artwork since she said this space was also going to be used for her henna studio where she would meet with clients.
Next, she added a luscious and beautifully made area rug to the room along with a gorgeous cream-colored tufted sofa. When the video pans out, you also get to see a small desk and chair as well as a cool acrylic DIY calendar and some wall-mounted planters. At the end, she said the entire process took two to three months but that she was absolutely thrilled with how it turned out.

Now, her husband is jealous and wants the office space back so she said maybe it’s time to re-do his office, too!

I absolutely loved watching this office transformation, and I am especially impressed with the feature wall with the thick wood trim and the gorgeous paint color she chose. By adding lighter colors to the other walls, white shelving, and lighter furniture, the room has a beautiful visual balance.
