About this home
This is a stunning 12,000-square-foot smart home located on scenic Mt. Helix in La Mesa, California. With unparalleled panoramic views of the nearby valleys, mountain peaks, and even ocean breadths on clear days, this mountainside haven is the perfect balance between formal and easygoing, with a blend of industrial materials and contemporary style.
Complete with 4 bedrooms, an indoor gym, steam room, craft room, home theater, wine cellar, and playroom, the home was constructed with 16-foot-high ceilings of exposed laminated timber beams custom fitted with metal strapping, and features a 22-foot-long quartz kitchen island with wood inset for durable appeal.
The homeowner, a contractor himself, had the chance to build his dream home from the ground up. He worked closely with San Diego-based interior designer Kathy Miller of Advantage Design Partners to construct an informal yet elegant space with clean-lined, comfortable furniture, and consulted with technology integrator Zack Paradise of Paradise InfoTech to integrate an ELAN Entertainment & Control System that would allow for instant control of the home’s intricate lighting fixtures, 14 TVs, high-end audio, climate, pool and spa, extensive security system, and more.
About the smart home system
The ELAN Entertainment & Control System built into this home offers complete and instant control of the home’s high-end audio, 14 televisions, intricate lighting fixtures, temperature, pool, and extensive security system. It was seamlessly integrated throughout the entire residence to increase the ease of livability without taking away from the unique interior design. Through the ELAN app on their smartphone or tablet, the owner and his family can operate the home’s various features from virtually anywhere in world, all with just the touch of a button. Whether that’s turning on the heat to warm up the house for the family’s return from a day out, or monitoring surveillance footage while on vacation, the advanced home automation system provides both convenience and peace-of-mind for the homeowners.
