If you’re sick and tired of your current space or you’re just in the mood for a change, making updates can be tough, especially if you’re on a budget. Thankfully, that doesn’t always mean that you can’t make some seriously impactful updates without breaking the bank. YouTube creator Julie Khuu is sharing her top 10 “cheap” room décor ideas that she says designers swear by.
This is part one of the two-part series, and you can watch it right here on YouTube:
The next tip she mentions is to change the details of a space instead of the entire picture. For example, switching out throw blankets and pillows with something in a new material, pattern, or color can make a huge difference in a space. Look around each room of your home and pick out small elements that you could easily change with less effort and less money and see just how much of a difference it makes. According to Julie, this simple tip can make a room feel like an entirely different space, and I completely agree.
Julie’s third tip in this video is to repurpose your furniture. So, what does that mean, exactly? Well, according to Julie, using items like an old dresser and turning into a bar cabinet or a pair of nesting tables and putting them together to create a “new” coffee table. The trick is to look for existing furniture that might not be living up to its maximum potential and repurpose it so it gets more use and functionality. If you’re not happy with the current color or finish, you can always paint or stain your furniture to give it new life, too. Look for pieces you already have and think of ways that they can serve a different purpose in your home.
The next tip is all about indoor plants. Julie says shopping for plants at your local hardware store is a great way to save money on houseplants. She also mentioned that she propagates her existing plants by cutting stems from them and planting them so that they grow to full size.
Finally, Julie mentions that you can add a cozy area rug to a room to transform it. I agree that a new rug does wonders for a space and can totally transform it. It also makes any room feel warmer and cozier. Rugs also add a pop of color and texture to a space.
I think all of these tips are really smart and that each one can really be effective at helping you revamp your home on a budget.
Viewer TexasStardust also loved the video and said, “Love this, Miss Julie… I do ” Shop my home first’, ” and I often even move furniture around, even to other rooms where I think it will ” work better ” than where it was previously. I love it when you do these types of tips, and how you put the captions on the screen…genius. Looks great because you ” enclosed ” the caption. (wording).”
Start your home revamp by “shopping your home,” then look around to see what other things you already have that can become brand-new again. Whether you want to repurpose some of your existing furniture or add an area rug, these easy tips are brilliant and perfect for anyone looking to do a new design without breaking the bank.
