How big are carpenter ants?

Worker carpenter ants are 3/8 to 1/2 inch long.  The queen carpenter ant grows to 1 inch long.  Yes, carpenter ants are fairly large among the different types of ants.

What are the different types of carpenter ants?

There are various species of carpenter ants but another way to classify them are worker carpenter ants, winged males and the queen.  They come in different colors as well; Some are all black, some are black and brown, some are red, black and brown and some have a lot of red (orange-red). What are the signs you have carpenter ants?

  • Fine sawdust on the floor next to walls.
  • Soft crinkling coming from inside your walls.
