Are small Craftsman houses nice?
Yes, small Craftsman houses can look amazing. It’s true that some are large but as you can see above, the Craftsman design works well with bungalow-style houses.
Small houses can be one or two stories tall. Our collection of small Craftsman house plans offer both.
The Craftsman-style house has been around since the start of the 20th century. Since there are many small floorplans to choose from, which ones are right for your family?
Two-Bedroom, Two-Story, Narrow Lot
Small lots require vertical plans. The 1441 square foot (sq. ft.) design is the best for this property type. The open plan for the first floor features a large great room and eat-in kitchen. Along with a 29-foot covered porch, the space feels bigger on a smaller lot.
The two bedrooms and bathrooms are on the second floor. The master bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom. The standard plan features both a full and half-bath in the hallway. However, the partial bathroom could be removed for extra space.
Park Ridge Two-Bedroom, One-Story
The Park Ridge Craftsman home is what you normally find in older neighborhoods. At 1543 sq. ft, it’s designed lengthwise. To put it another way, it’s a ranch-style house turned sideways.
The two bedrooms and bathrooms are set on the home’s left side. The common areas are on the right, with the great room toward the back. The garage is located at the rear of the property. In addition to these rooms, there’s enough space in the attic for a bonus room.
Two-Bedroom, Single Story
This Craftsman home is quite similar in design to a ranch-style property. It features an open floor plan with everything on one floor. Unlike the Park Ridge style, this design is over 2000 sq. ft. Thus, it’s better for larger lots.
Another difference is in the home’s entrance area. Instead of a garage, it features a vaulted carport that’s accessible through a circular driveway. This allows for quick access to the home during inclement weather.
Inside, the bedrooms are situated in opposite areas. The owner’s suite (master bedroom) is off the dining room and has potential access to the back patio. The second bedroom (guest suite) is off of the great room.
Three-Bedroom Craftsman Ranch
The three-bedroom craftsman ranch is slightly smaller than the two-bedroom single-story. Yet, at 1801 sq. ft., it still requires a bigger lot for construction.
A large covered porch welcomes you and your guests into the home. The front of the home is where the three bedrooms are located, with one that overlooks the porch. The kitchen and other common areas are on the backend of the home.
Larkspur Three-Bedroom
The Larkspur Craftsman plan is similar to the Park Ridge except it’s bigger. At 1771 sq. ft., there’s more room for an additional bedroom and bathroom. The floor plan has options to make one bedroom a study and finish the upstairs area to create a bonus room.
